@smc: Upload speeds lower than 1 mbps can certainly handle streaming, but not at 1080p obviously; you can scrape 720p with some minor quality loss though. The other thing to keep in mind is CPU load; without using DXtory which mitigates some of the pressure by hooking into the GPU, Xsplit can destroy sandy bridge processors at anything more intensive than the 'veryfast' encoding preset at 1080p. SB-E processors are capable of 'fast' presets at 1080p60fps though, which is pretty awesome, but expensive!

Framerate hits with DXtory are far less than FRAPS, but I still have to test it in a multiplayer environment to ensure that there is no input lag.

@Dom: DXtory is quite a complicated program in comparison to FRAPS/Afterburner etc, and does take some setting up before it will work without hitches - due to its method of recording (hooking into the graphics card) it heavily relies on stable drivers, which might have been the cause of it crashing. DXtory works fine with my BF3 on Nvidia's 295.63 and 296.10 drivers.

 

I just roled back to none beta drivers so might give it a go again. In audio recording can i record split audio? From looks of it i can. So i can have game audio separate from mumble?

 

Yep, it puts audio from the mic in a separate channel to the Windows stereo mix, assuming it has been set-up to do so in the tab that looks like a headset.

 

Sweet, so i can record audio with everything separate. So sometimes the action is great but people talking over it sometimes doesn't go with the flow of gameplay.

 

Well somehow I got fraps to work at full size and get a playable game at the same time, I'm uploading a test clip to Youtube just now to see how it looks but looks like fraps could be the way forward for me after playing about with Dxtory and it's billion different options.

I've also decided that there should be a fix so that you can't spawn if you have the same squad perk as someone else, started with a squad of 2 earlier and 2 guys joined and picked the same perks as me and weren't interested in changing them, twats.

 

I use FRAPS at 60Fps half size simply because the lesser res means smaller file sizes plus i render at 720p anyway!

 

I've went with 29.97 full size and it looks **** on youtube compared to watching it on my monitor.

Might just go to half size again and up the fps, seems like the sensible thing to do.

 

^ The reason why it looks bad on YT is because of their transcoding process. If you prepare the file and encode it in h.264 format beforehand with decent quality settings, the result should be far better*.

*I have to test this versus just raw uncompressed avi. Not sure if youtube will use a pre-prepared h.264 file if the user provides it or still try and transcode it, no matter the format.

I might have found a fun server. And I've noticed that Americans aren't as good it seems. Or maybe just the ones I run into because I was top 3 almost in every game I was in tonight. Now that's weird.

 

I always thought my videos looked ok at 720p. As I said before I record at 60fps not 30fps. At half size and they look ok to me, going to DXTory a go next week. xD

 

How to get fit and play BF3

 

Saw a video of your caique parrot - one of cutest, playful birds I've ever seen, made me want to get one!

 

Had a good game with zaim on caspian border tonight. It's nice having someone on your squad who works as a team.



On another note, I think I'm gonna give the magnum a miss tbh. I've tried it, but god damn when you need it most does it not deliver. For me, I find the lack of recoil on the rex a much greater asset (sp?) than the higher dmg of the magnum. If I need to let off rounds quickly, the recoil of the magnum makes sure my shots go nowhere near where I need them to, and I'm dead in no time. I just can't slow my aim down enough to get the kills when I'm up against someone with a full auto assault rifle. For now I've switched over to the m1911 supressed, just for a change For me, the pistol is a last resort once your magazine is empty. I'd use the G18 more if I wasn't against auto this and auto that.

 

Magnum is still my favorite pistol. Although I've gotten better with the REX. Fun night with some of you old CPC guys. Still kicking my ass.
