On a different note.............Just managed a game one metro with my guess of 98% LAG FREE.

I'm a bit doubtful about the quality, I think stretching the video from 16:10 to 720p didn't work very well. I may have to leave black bars on the side next time.

 

People who are good with planes: most useful thing you can ever do is take out enemy heli's!

Useful, yes. MOST useful? No. Clear the air in general first, then take those rocket pods and ram them into enemy armour on the ground.

Sure, us flyguys are useful for getting air clear for ground, but likewise, you ground guys need to help us. The amount of time people don't SPOT armour for us is just crazy. It drives me nuts, and then people say "Can you pilots take out the armour please?" - Yep, we can, but at this kind of airspeed, staying below radar, you need to spot for us.

 

To be honest I find a general issue with people spotting in general, particularly on larger maps when it's pretty necessary. How hard is it to hit Q every once in a while. Static snipers are the worst for this; you wanna sit shooting at things, fine, but highlight the targets ffs.

 

One thing that drives me nuts with pilots is when I am specifically sitting in the C-RAM/PANTSIR or the LAV-AD/Tunguska and tell them that I am covering them, but need them to lure the enemy jets around to me so I can nail them, they just ignore me or shoot me.

I'M THERE TO HELP YOU MORONS! I knock down 2 jets and a heli and you get free reign over the rest of the map until they respawn and then I'll knock them down again and you get to harass some more!

I have limited range with cannon fire and the AA missiles, I can't shoot from the spawn all the way to fecking Echo on Caspian Border, now can I?!

When they get taken down themselves, then they usually whine that they're getting no help. Damned pubbers.

i find it hard to take down heli's. any tips from our pro fly boys? i just find it much easier to get behind a jet and take them out, there's much more time to aim than choppers.

 

Tanks are easy to spot - so no one on the ground has any excuses there!

They are also easy to kill, as an engineer I can take out a tank no problem. Heli's on the other hand, are much harder to hit, and if anything are even more deadly to infantry, so its imperative good pilots kill them.

 

As a single engineer, yes you can take out a fully manned tank, but it's going to be a challenge if they know their stuff.

As a single fighter pilot however, if you light that bitch up, I'll send all three of that tank crew to hell in a hand cart faster than even a double-team engineer squad will do. One run and it will be dead (that gives two entire rocket pod unloads and a 3-4 second burst on guns). Worst comes to worst and something misses, you've got an easy target as an engineer on the ground. Help us to help you, yeah?

Helicopters also, due to the fact they hug the ground tighter than jets, are hard for us to spot as we fly past. Spot them for us too. Sure, you might not be able to hit them, but I can only vouch for myself here: If I hear my comms light up with a spotted helo, that thing is top priority, followed by jets (unless they're on my tail), then ground targets.

FF doesn't damage static AA anyway.

Tips for taking down Helos:

1. Once you know where they are, go high. The higher the better, although be careful past 550, as you'll end up stalling and be an easy target.

2. Fly level before dropping to hit the target. All the while, you should be throttling back. That finger should never leave the throttle down key, even when dropping in.

3. Learn to hit air targets with rocket pods. Half a salvo of pods on a helo equals a disabled vehicle with about 3% health. Unleash pods, then switch to guns and finish it. Even if you don't get it disabled on the pods, the single gun burst will finish it enough.

4. Learn to predict chopper paths. Don't aim in front of it, as choppers don't always move towards where they are looking. Look at the angle of the vehicle and adapt. It's just practice.

5. If they turn on to you to lock on, pull up and afterburn. Gain height and go again. If they rise to meet you, drop low and go below radar. Put distance between you and them and level out at their height. Fly parallel and watch them. They will inevitably be engaged by something else, so wait. You move faster than they do, so USE THAT. So many people seem to forget speed is a jet's best weapon against anything other than another jet. If a helo decides to engage you from below, climb. They will have to tilt to stay on target and may end up losing control.

6. Learn to use the right mouse button. It's the most useful tool in your employ as a pilot. Awareness is everything. Make sure you keep an eye on the Helo's height, angle and field of view. Otherwise you'll end up coming round and facing them.

7. Use a mouse and keyboard. You'll nail things faster than a joystick. Period.

I know how you feel. However, I would hope anyone in ZiiP would at least realise what they're doing when you're on the static AA. I know I keep my bearings based on you when you mention you're on it.

 

Looked good to me, as long as you are regarding in the same resolution you are rendering at there shouldn't be a problem dude!

One thing I would like to say from the past few posts, I hate this elitist BS. I'm pants in Jets, but pretty good on the ground, armor or on foot. And this elitist I'm better than everyone and the game needs me to win is rather annoying.

I spot all the time and so do many other people. The complaint that we as infantry don't do our jobs is BS because we do. And for one thing when we do spot we do it not really for you guys in jets. We do it so a squad mate doesn't get blasted by a tank whilst capping a point. I spot when I'm in helis not just for me. But for team mates so they know whats happening.

I know it's Bad Company 2. I think I might make a Battlefield 3 version!

 

Oh, it does. I've been C4'd out of it on several occasions by both friendlies who complain that I saved their ass and "took their kill" and by enemy pilots... who change teams after being repeatedly torn asunder by me and join our team just to kill me. I've lost count how many times that has happened.

 

I think the same guy did make a BF3 version during the Beta days.

Some odd behaviour today.

Getting shot down (missile) by a jet that the killcam showed no missiles on then on Kharg one shot killed by a machine gun in his base while I was in cover between C&D - that would have been a good sniper shot.

It is a bit of a pain at the moment.

 

You sure the missiles weren't still reloading at the time you saw the jet?
