True, true. Many variables too it seems. Was ok today. Must be a server variable somewhere too, last night I had more than one instance of me and an e unloading our main guns and then handguns at each other from a few feet away. Was funny, until it made me thing of the Battlefield Friends video and wondered who was just stood there watching.

Oh and the number of times I've thrown a grenade at my feet by mistake, well, I don't want to count them up and I can't blame that on anything else other than me. :)

TBH considering the mechanics behind the whole game I can't grumble too much, just live with it when it does happen from time to time.

Power hungry? Mine has been cool and whisper quiet since day one on 650W, :thumb:

I didn't think it was overly power hungry having never checked its actual power load on my psu.

I want to bump up to 580 or 680 dependant on actual real world gains.

Though no 580s in stock at scan or aria.

It is a must that DICE recognise that there are three distinct communities, and subsequently make three slightly divergent games to suit, not just normal/hardcore, but whole mechanics enabled or disabled.

    Edit-

Thing is BF3 was designed for the public market and it was successful, while jack makes valid points about the game and hopes for BF4, the hardcore infantry only players want to turn Battlefield into CS/COD with medpacks/reviving and the frostbite engine.

Why should Battlefield be turned into CS/COD they have it covered, Battlefield stands out but we shall wait and see what EA/DICE give us for BF4 when it comes.

What? No, just....no. If you seriously think that is what they are asking you are very mistaken.

They just want BF4 to better accommodate competitive play in the same way as BF2/1942 did, and those games were just as successful with more casual/non competitive players as BF3 is. Removing suppression, reducing effectiveness of OP revive mechanics/achieving better class balance and adding spectate mode and mod tools to allow map creation. These are the main things people want to see DICE implement in BF4 and they do nothing to move the focus towards infantry only combat or a CS/COD clone. They are, and always will be, very different games.

My inital post was limited, i wanted to avoid the page length essay explaining the problems with BF3 as a game and then competitively.

If you give the options to remove most of the effects out of the game and mod options, then the hardcore infantry scene will look to move BF as close to CS/COD as possible.

BF2 was never reall well suited to competive play, infantry mode was just a late add on and the game only worked beacuse of Battle recorder/free cam and mods, as people could steam/cast/spectate etc.
If BF3 had just Battlerecorder and free cam then the competive scene would have taken off and lasted longer, though its still limited by the restrictions of the game.

You mention removing suppression/OP revive/class balance, these are basic problems with the game but Dice are happy with them at current as they suit public play, it would be great for them to address them.
Mod tools are unlikely to happen as Dice has said they wont release them and frostbite will likely stay behind closed doors.

What keeps Battlefield seperate from CSS/COD competitively is medic packs/revive and vehicle conquest (the way Battlefield should be played competitively.)

BF twitter re-tweeted a gamespot employee who apparently saw BF4 and said "all I can say is WOW!"

Who's betting on a BF4 reveal for tomorrow's Playstation event?

Change of plans for the moment, sticking with what I have and then looking at funds in the future. Buying a bridge camera as I will be doing some hardware reviews for a friend in the coming months.

Would an OCZ 600W silverstream be ok with a GTX 660 with i5 3570K overclocked?, and it should do me for BF3.

The basic premise is that, if DICE make BF to be all things, to all people, then they will have a huge commercial success. Also the differing communities can enjoy the game more, rather than suffer lament to aspects of it.

The lens flare and constant turbulent dust hazes are just obnoxious as they are, and are the only fx that need redressing.

What it looks like without a million lens elements:

And don't the dust swirls look silly.

CoD and CS are fundamentally different games (whilst I've not really played them to understand properly). CS's stratergies are limited to American Football style plays - a continuous dynamic in conquest is much more attractive. CoD fails hard with killstreaks, it is an equal team 'unbalancer' -might as well be awarded an extra player. CoD is killstreaks, you're not playing it if you don't have them.

This is why BF is great:

I also like ground vehicles, air planes just suck though.

I'd love to see Battlefield become a decent competitive game and Jack's videos make a lot of sense. I've personally taken part in quite a few parts from 5v5 ESL to 1v1 Jet dogfighting and 32v32 campaigns.

But, in turns of numbers, I'm not sure DICE are really going to care. The competitive community really is a very small percentage of the battlefield player base.

I'm sure encouraging competitive play would push sales, but I'm cynical and really I don't think DICE will ever put in the work needed to make the changes Jack suggests. The amount of development required would at least be equal to a whole DLC pack which we already have to pay for. Also looking at the number of bugs still present over a year after release you can see how little DICE is willing to invest to perfect their game.

Oi you leave my planes alone.

    Colour me green.

Here is to zh1nt0 doing a job right. If you thought he was a bad community manager, that's because he was. He didn't know anything about that, but he does like esports and is producing BF4.

    2 possibilities for me:

    1) People are hacking profiles and stats. (unlikely)

    2) Someone else has access to your account and is hacking on it.

Well my P90 stats haven't changed since the last time I used the P90, so I don't see how the second option would be true.

I thought you never used it?

Is it just on one server it happens? It could just be one admin being a dick.

Well if you look at the image I posted, I only have 130 kills with it and I'm a 61 colonel, so I basically never use it.

Seems to only be on one server, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't an admin that banned me. It seems more likely that it would be Punkbuster related, no?
