This. Anyone can fly, but only good pilots can actually dogfight.

 

Apparently some knobbish admin think my attitude is what's wrong with bf3. Join late and looking to teamwork spawn into the viper. Its out of bounds and im told to get out.

Sigh.

Usual 'why'. Playing with mate, presumably on voice comms so i go ok then. I just want to get involved so i say ok, drop me in bounds. Apparently wanting to team work and then just ask to get dropped in bounds, way up the map is the non teamwork attitude. Vitriol follows, do i care tgat much about k/d and another piping up to say to kick me. Ffs, teamwork. I must have a different understanding.

I wasnt kicked, the guy just crashed us. Ffs it would have been quicker to just drop me off and have me in a position for others to spawn off me with a map position advantage. Nope, against teamwork, i should have suicided, lose us a ticket and lose the positional advantage.

Those things spoil bf3 for me.

 

It is running better and better everyday it seems. My overclock is perfectly stable but the games till crashes like it used to do before I overclocked. However, it happened 3 times yesterday in a span of about 4 hours of gameplay whereas I used to crash within 1-2 minutes before.

I'm getting into the game more and more. There are still a lot of things that infuriate me. The sound, in my opinion, is pathetic. I can't hear where I'm getting shot from and I can't hear people walking around me, which makes it impossible to survive on reflexes and instinct. It's just all about positioning, camping and be overly safe all the time (aka boring).

I'm still not a fan of most guns but I found the SV98 with iron sight to be my best weapon so far.

If only they fixed the sound ...


(and yes, I tried every single tweak I could find to make the sound better. None make a difference. People are still ghost and they can sprint at me and stab me in the back. I'll never know until I'm dead)

 

Nothing wrong with the sound mate, even with some headphones sound is awesome and have used it to save my backside from being knifed. I do have some expensive headphones so high audio quality xD

 

There is something 'wrong' with the sound and I'm not the only one who says it. I do come however from a time when you could hear everything in a game, regardless of how ridiculous it was (footsteps through concrete walls in cs 1.6, etc). Nowadays, you just can't hear anything. The exact same problem applies to all the shitty CoD games that came out after CoD4. You just can't hear people.

As for sound quality, I have an Auzentech Bravura and I use Klipsch s4i. Although this may not be super high end, it is perfectly good enough for gaming and the Klipsch actually sound great.

 

To be honest I am using HD598's and onboard sound and everything sounds great to me.

 

Must be another of those bf3 quirks, like dom i hear talking and footsteps that has saved my neck a few times. I must admit it improved with the x-fi over onboard but my headset only cost 25 quid so they're not high end.

Have you had a look to see any suggestions on the best audio drivers for you? I know if it's anything like gpu drivers different ones may work better than others (eg for me 306.97 are the best, others prefer others).

A fickle game it is indeed.

 

My sound card uses an x-fi sound processor, which means messing around with the drivers would be a terrible idea. They're working right now so I'm not touching them !

Is there any difference when you change the audio type in game?

 

Wow, bf3 still down 5 or 6 hours after the planned end of maintenance...

 

I was planning for a good session this morning, not working til later today

 

Endgame is looking better and better.. Maps look great for some Conquest action.

Aye, back up. Looks like assignments updated with jackhammer (*sigh*) available. End game ones there but locked not sure about any others.

 

Another update, guessing it is the DLC, just a small one at 6.1GB

 

How big is the entire BF3 install now then?

 

Even on my mates Xbox with the crappy textures its about 30GB - I dread to think what mine is. One thing is for sure - I'm running extremely low on SSD disk space.

 

Just checked on my machine and it's 30.1GB.
