General blatant Spam recently

There's been a lot of spam posts cropping up recently.. and I just don't see the point. When the mods lock pointless threads, there's a reason for it.

It's a discussion board, not a lavatory wall.. if you want to actually have a conversation, go for it, if you don't then just don't post.

We're still doing pretty good in the 'nice place to hang out' stakes, so let's not spoil it. We certainly don't want to get heavy handed because that just annoys everyone.. it's not a warning, it's a request.

 

Yeah I think Kna's semi-anger was directed partly at me... and largely at Jameweb... if I know my fox spam....

Not ONE of your posts has been of any use whatsoever, do you even know what this site is for? I might seem a bit out of order here,

But recently I, being myself, Think there has been a downfall in the content of the forums, this is not due to the team, its down to the amount of spam thats get posted in one day, Some people feels its an achievement that they have reached 100 / 1000 / 2k post count and like to publicly display it, when they know well enought that its next to each post they make,

yeah you're kind of right.... there's still some useful stuff going on, but there's a lot more spam than there was when i first started here... might also have something to do with the number of members now... i think i was here prior to 1000... and now its up over 3000 now.... maybe they should change the rules again...

 

I think when a board starts to get to this size, it undergoes a metamorphosis. With such a high number of people singing up, spam is inevitable. I think how this is handled will be a mark of the bit forums, as milestones are for any community.

Also, another symptom of the new user trying to get their post count up is trawling the forums for long dead threads and resurrecting them for no apparent reason. I've seen a lot of that recently. Some people just seem desperate to find anything and everything they can invent a reason for replying to.

 

Some of us built up our post counts in the non-GD forums...shocking as that may be....
