    Evening.

Two days ago, after upgrading my internet connection to 1mb, i got this error message:

If i click "Click here to see what the error report contains" i get this:

If i then click more information, i get told that the following files will be included in the report:

I have tried deleting the files, i've tried google, which helped sweet **** all. I have no HP printer, and when uprgrading the connection, there was no new modem installed.

Running Windows XP SP1, i have the SP2 install disc, but not installed yet as last time it royally broke windows, and corrupt a file so Windows wouldn't start up, so i don't really trust it.

Any help is greatly appreciated. If its deduced that its a OS fault, i will just backup and format, but i don't really want it to come to this.

This is the thing. If i click anything, such as don't send or click to send, or even debug. Thats the PC dead.

Go to desktop, no programs will open, try to go to My Computer, and it can't find itself. Try to open a file that someone has just sent on MSN, and MSN will crash, try and open a downloaded file in the Download manager window in firefox, and firefox crashes, same with mIRC and any other program.

It also comes up and completly random time. Sometimes after 10minutes, sometimes an hour, or even today, i left it on overnight, no error, left it on while i went out all day, and i've come back to it crashed. I have not got a clue why its crashing, or whats causing it.

I've just run Kaspersky virus scan yesterday, picked up 20 odd virus, but didn't solve anything, as i said before, i've just come home to it crashed. Also run Spy Sweeper, as well as Window Washer, even AVG.

Im stumped, and a format really is looking to be on the cards :waah:

    The damage is done :(
20 different viri will have caused something. Sometimes a virus cant be removed without a negative side effect on the system. Sounds like you need a format. If your able to, back up your files then format and reinstall windows. Scan your backups for any viri before copying your files back.

    Haha.

So i format, fresh install. Install ATI drivers, hit ctrl+alt+del to bask at the empty task manager, to only see 6 spyware already running. Browse to Program Files, and find 3 spyware folders already. After some deleting, i get on with installing SP1. Once installed, im on mIRC talking to freinds, and the error comes back :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

So yeah, running a virus scan now. However, the error doesn't crash my whole PC this time, so its a bit better :hehe:

Thanks for all your help :)

    Hahaha yup.

I said earlier it didn't effect the PC.

It has now however gone back to exactly before the format. Click dont sent, or send, what ever, another error pops up, same error though, then nothing works.

Yey for format not doing **** all. Virus scan has deleted everything, same with Spyware scanner.

If anyone does know a virus that could cause this, please enlighten me, as currently **** all can touch this. Not even a bloody format

Do you have multiple hard drives in the computer? Disconnect the extras. Was the network cable in while you installed windows? Thats a mistake right there.

Yea as Froggy said, once you've been infected they know where you are :eeek: :worried: , you will be infected within minitues everytime. Unplug your net connection and do your format\install and install a firewall\virus scanner BEFORE you even contemplate goin on the net, this should stop you from being infected again, just as a percaution (sp*) update both straight away then windows :thumb: .

    [EDIT]I recommend the Avast\Sygate combo with a dash of S&D and a side order of Ad-Aware ;) a-la full protection :)[/EDIT]

Hahaha, i did install with network cable in. My bad :duh:

Never thought about unplugging the other drives actually, may try that in a bit. I just ran the virus scan, and spyware scan again, picked up just a few hahaha.

Its crashed again, but only taking my sound drivers with it this time, and i wan't to watch a video, no, not porn sadly. So a restart is in order, will see if it crashes again, if it does, will try the things you have suggested.

Thanks mucho for the help so far

Viri like to hide in the system restore, which is the same reason I turned it off. Therefore, no matter how many times you format, all the garbage in the system restore file will come creeping back. Kill that service, reformat, and see what happens. Sometimes, however, viri become so dug in that the OS becomes dependent on them.
