Can't say I've ever had a problem with running it on either AMD/ATI or NVidia since it's release.
Maybe you need to completely uninstall MSI Afterburner, then run a registry cleaner to delete any old reg files? ;)

Fresh windows install . I've had it confirmed to me by a AIB partner rep but I'm not allowed to say who.

I see, so did it write over the original fan profile of the GPU bios?

It was overriding the fan profile in the BIOS. The weirdest thing is that sometimes the fan profile was "normal" but other times it wouldn't go higher than 50%. Very weird issue.

anything MSI tbh, lots of people seem to swear by MSI, my experience has been universally swearing at MSI [I've yet to own anything MSI that hasn't gone back from RMA at least once]

    also -

    people
american style vomiting forth sunshine and happiness from CS drones
people who ask for input/advice when they have no intention of heeding it
cyclcists who ride on the ****ing pavement

there is more but the full list is so long it would probably break the forum.

    I suppose I can add a few more general dislikes;

    - Drivers who don't indicate, or drivers who turn on their indicaters just as/just after they've started making their turn
    - Anti-vaxxers (I mean seriously! I'd happily let natural selection take care of you, but since your idiocy impacts everyone else as well...)
    - Co-workers who simply burst into my office without knocking, talking as soon as they come through the door assuming that I've got nothing else to do (you know who you are!)
    - Telephone sales people, door-to-door sales people ... just sales people really.
    - "I get all my information from YouTube-videos and you are clearly wrong"

Yeah, I realise I could go on for quite a bit. Maybe I'll end up a grumpy old git eventually...

People who regurgitate nonsense without considering their source:

A swan will break your arm
    It's illegal to drive barefoot
The Bahamas are warmer than Scotland because they're closer to the sun
    etc.

    Sweet potato.
Fruit in general/original format. Fruit juices are fine, but am I **** eating an orange. Tomato based sauces are also fine.
    Advertisements.
How shockingly **** our public transport can be.
    All radio stations.
"Reality" Tv, and its associated "celebrities".
    Real life drama.
Fanboys. Even though I am one for a select group of things/people, apparently.
    Apple products.
    Low quality audio.
The inability to find TV show props or reproductions there of for sale. Such as the portrait of James Marsters as the Count of St. Germain, from Warehouse 13. Or Joel Kinnaman's coat from Altered Carbon.
The lack of a 2017 Ford GT on my driveway.
    Windows Updates.
    Pot Noodle.
    Toast.

..I think this list might get too long.

    • Dishonest people (number 1 on the wrong button to push list!)
    • People who say they want to join you for physical activity (hikes) and then make excuses at the last minute, because they really don't want to engage in said activity but want to look like they do. Get that regular from friends on Facebook!
    • People who cheat at physical activity, who are they really kidding us or themselves???
    • People who are happy complaining, without making any effort to resolve issues and they often pull others down for making an effort to resolve issues. Put up or shut up!
    • People who feel their income level or bank balance is a badge of honour or indicates their worth as a human being, especially those who are loud with it! Easily put.... snobs, in any shape or form.
    • Really scruffy people who are scruffy for no other reason than "fashion". Get a haircut, wear clothes that fit and stand up/ sit up friggin straight!!
