Anyone who finds the whine from the newer versions of the GT1450s annoying might be interested in the Noiseblocker PL2 1400rpm fans for their rads.

I've been looking for new fans to replace my old Scythe GT 1450s which have been excellent but the grey fan blades didn't blend in with my new build and these were recommended these by a friend.

I've been testing them out over the last few days and have found that they deliver about the same cooling performance as the GT1450s (given that I use fairly cheap sensors that although calibrated are accurate to about 1ºC). They are louder than the GTs though and I would estimate that they have similar noise levels to the GT1850s but with none of the annoying whine the new ones produce. They have no resonance or motor ticking at any speed and I'd describe the sound as a smooth wind type noise.

Although you get some goodies supplied with each fan most are not usable on a rad. The have rubber/silicone fan gaskets which I couldn't manage to fit on the rad as the fans are too close together. You also get a couple of sleeved fan extenders and screws with neat knurled nuts. However you could only use these screws and nuts when fitting to a case rather than a rad. I do like the fact that the fan connector is right next to the frame so if you're using a fan splitter cable there's no additional cable to hide.

They're a little bit pricey at £11.70 (but still cheaper than the GTs) and you're probably paying a bit extra for the gasket, screws, nuts and fan extenders that many people won't use but I think they're well worth trying out.

Gt's are usually a tenner bud :) But good shout, good fans are always worth shouting about :) The short fan cable idea is cool too :)

The GT's must have come down in price since I last looked which tbh they should as the newer ones although still delivering excellent airflow have too much motor whine and the cables aren't even sleeved.

GTs are £11.63 at scan, cheapest available.

I got 6 GTs the other day, and am fairly disappointed considering the price, am just planning on getting 6 yates and slowing them down a bit possibly now that a friend will buy the GTs off of me.

I'm sure GTs were a tenner on Aquatuning...

I will continue to use them for watercooling. When I get some money I'll investigate the noise they make :)

I forgot to mention that Noiseblocker have excellent after sales service. I complained about motor noise from a couple of PK3 140mm fans (sleeve bearing) I bought a couple of months ago and they sent me 2 replacements for free. I now have 2 slightly noisy (at slow speed) 140mm fans for sale:naughty:
