The only problem here is that they're not going after the people who ordered it nor those (Bush, Cheney, et al.) who authorized the illegal policy of "extraordiary rendition".
They've got almost no chance of getting the US to hand over their agents for doing what Uncle Sam instructed them to do. Even less of getting good old George to come out and face the music. It is however, good to see countries standing up for themselves and saying to the world that they won't have foriegn countries commit attocities on their citizens. If only my government was so enlightened.
Great stuff. Italy did this a while back, issueing warrents for certain CIA agents and if memory serves EU law makes arrest warrents apply EU wide. Not that I expect the CIA agents to actually get caught or extradited - but it does send a clear sign in this case to the US not to screw around with EU citizens.
the rest of Europe would do well to follow Germany's lead. It had its period of fascism --Germans can recognise the sound of marching jackboots when they hear it, and they know what ill it bodes. On American legs the footsteps sound the same.
