Now that's just insanely sweet! I love the tolerances you are working at too. You are using 90 degree SATA connectors, right? Remember kids: SATA cables break if you fold them at the back of the connector. I learned the hard way.
Thanks guys @cheap: Yes I will be using an angled sata connector. There might be the need to grind it down a bit but it should fit. Now Ill just need to find a short (4") sata cable or Ill try to make my own
My first post here, your amazing projects have persuaded me to register rather than being a ghost! I very much like your style and how you make everything from scratch! Its very inspiring, and especially amazing how much you can make from a mill with the right know how! Keep it up I very much look forward to it being completed, as well as your other mod too!
I've already produced smoke from my computer once so Ill try to skip that part. Thanks for your first post, it's always nice to inspire someone else to join the forums or start a mod of their own. It's nice to hear you'r following and I can tell you that Im trying my hardest to get this one finished. Aiming to have it ready for anodizing before vacation in a few weeks. Hopefully... that's doable.
Back again, with the final progress of the sidepieces. This time i've spent a lot of time finetuning all of the sidepieces and I've had my first real battle with tolerance chains. For those not familiar with that: it's basically, if you make several pieces that is supposed to stack together. Each piece will have it's tiny variations in the dimension and these will add to the next ones when you stack them. And In the end you might end up with a pretty big missalignment. So I've been assembling and dissassembling over and over again, while finetuning each piece until it all fits. Doing this when you don't have any parallel work holders is not fun. Anyway, the finetuning that is left is handed over to the final clean up prosess. So here it is, the last pieces of the side frame. I had to test the foot to see if it fits, and it snapped right into place. Turns out the fit was so tight in each corner, I could lift the whole thing and the foot wouldn't move even though there were no screws. On these rare ocations when you achieve results like that, you just smiiiile You might have noticed that there is a lot of dirt and scratches on the whole thing, I won't bother cleaning it up until it's ready for anodizing.
WOW to get that kind of a fit with the foot after so many seperate pieces is absolutely amazing Your work on this case is inspiring cant wait to see more updates and the final finsihed case
nice progress, been watching this build for a while, passive builds are rare these days. Cant wait to see the anodizing get done
I can't really improve on what every one else has said, but this is amazing work . Your machining skills are incredible.
It's always nice to inspire, thank you Thanks. I agree with you that passive builds are rare, and if you like em, I can tell you that there is more to come Thank you guys Thanks attila. I can't wait for the coloure either. I'was planning to do some high end renders to see what it might look like colored. However, somehow I wan't to wait until I get the physical colors in my hand. Hehe with at buildskill like yours and a workshop like that.. I guess you have encountered most there is
That is just fu*ckin awesome, now other way to describe it. Thats is some seriously brilliant mod you've got going on there mate...top, top modding. when it's finished this is going to be soooooo cool..
