So in theory you could install it, use it a bit for browsing microsoft websites for 3 months ... then uninstall the Feedback program

    Dual boot?

Install XP and Vista, use xp mainly, vista once or twice in the 3 month time frame, remove the vista spy software?
how is MS to know that you are the type of person that uses the pc once every blue moon, like my grandparents do for example.

However at the end of the day, id not want them or anyone else sniffing round my pc.

I'd have no problem with it. They're hardly going to shop you to the police for having a few MP3s on your machine, they won't care which nefarious websites you visit, all the data will be anonymised, what's the worry? If they roll that out in the UK, I'm all over it straight away.

The free software has been yanked, but not the program itself. Why would we let MS snoop around for free? Sad because I would have gladly setup a second PC with my copy of Vista that I haven't installed yet (got that for free from Intel), and only turned it on to take the survey every 2 weeks.

The program has no point now.

If it installed once, I would be afraid it would install every time. Even if it only ran for one month, I don't think I would do it...

wish i would have known about this sooner. Would have DLed it and run it with nothing on it for 3 months then removed the spyware.

What, am I the only one who thinks it would be funny to dl this and just have a good old fashioned piss-take?

Just setup the most basic computer, just barely able to run vista, and have it dl/watch porn 24/7 for the entire three months. Obviously set it up to run headless, and be completely automated, but still.

Could you imagine working at MS, and taking a look at those data packets? ;)

Apart from the offer being yanked, you had to submit to the monitoring (either automatically or by the weekly surveys) for at least 3 months before you got the software.............

dang that was fast.... but i believe they'r not 'running out of software' lol... i think its more like they got enough people to participate and wont b able to handle all the incoming info....

aside from its being yanked, i have no problem with saving up $200+ in exchange "sharing my computer with Microsofot" for 3 months. either dual-boot or have 2 box... do ur little browsing, documents, emails, games whatnot... and leave the... *ehm* more private stuff to the other machine. after 3 months, clean it up, and have free software.

Downloading Vista Business 64 Bit at the moment and downloaded a copy of XP Professional courtesy of the academic alliance scheme. If I weren't so lucky, I'd jump on an opportunity like this.
