Just wanted to say.. +1 on getting those covered tilting boxes.. they're really really worth it. Keeps smells down, and also keeps the litter INSIDE the box, as cats have this thing where they spray litter everywhere..
Daaaaawwww kitty! I have a feeling that's what just killed my cat too, usually she has Felix or Tescos stuff but whiskers was all they had, came home last night and she was unable to get up. She was incredibly old though, I think the combination of age, winter and dodgy food was too much for her.
aww what a cute cat. Btw that cat also looks like it's going to be trouble . Fleas aren't so bad it could be worse it could be ticks. I hate those friggin things.
I don't know if your cats old enough but we have tablets we give our cat which kills all adult fleas within 15 minutes. You know its working as the fleas start biting your cat as they die so it will start break dancing around the living room. You need to keep combing to get rid of the eggs, they look like little black bits of dust and are easiest to see around the ears. The spot on stuff breaks the breeding cycle but doesn't kill the adult fleas.
Figured I may as well update... Flea control is kinda going okish... wilkos own brand spot on and flea powder doesn't seem to be doing much for him as such he's being quarentined in the bathroom (only room without carpets)((don't worry it's a big bathroom and he's got lots of toys and warmth and we keep going in every once in a while to fuss him, he seems happy for now (could be worse, he could still be in that pillowcase waiting to be drowned...))) Going to be getting some flea tablets tomorrow or thursday which should kill off any adult fleas on him then he'll be allowed out into carpeted lands... On the plus side, he seems to have grown so much in just the last day and it's really awesome watching him learn, even teaching him things like how to jump onto things higher than he can reach... he's doing pretty damn well especially as his previous owners obviously didn't care about him at all... And we have pretty much decided on a name for him now... Formally his name is Sir Lokee Smudge the First... But you may call him... Smudge Or... Smudgykins, Smudgey, Smudgenheimer etc... or currently... (by me..) Fleabag, (by girlfriend..) Mr Flea
Cool name. Be sure to check that the flea treatments are suitable for kittens. I forgot to say earlier get him used to being brushed/combed from an early age as it saves much pain later on!
Yeah, Googling turned up that Capstar is suitable for kittens over 4 weeks old and over 2lbs in weight. However none of the other products boasted such claims... Looking into the active ingredient in all flea tablets (Nitenpyrem 11.4mg) it would appear that it is safe as per Capstar's recommendations. Gonna pick up some today I think, and wait for the girlfriend to come over again tomorrow to assist with the administration of tablet and then much combing (Lorquis is not the biggest fan of having claws embedded into him.) - Will update when Smudge is (hopefully) flealess!
Hi, There are loads of products on the market, I only know the UK ones so if youre elsewhere, please check. Capstar and Program are very safe, but obviously need the flea to bite the cat, so flea allergic disease and tapeworm infestations are still possible. Otherwise use a topical solution (spot-on) such as Frontline Combo, Advocate, Stronghold, Advantage. Please avoid supermarket brands as majority of them only contain flea "repellant" ie. fleas looking for another blood source ie. you! Though I have seen the new Bob Martin flea product for cats that have same ingredient as Advantage. Also treat the house and bedding, there are sprays available, but be aware they are toxic to human and kitteh alike, so ventilate ell after use. regarding costs, insurance is a must. Cost have been and will be increasing over your kittens lifespan, +- 15-18yrs, so any chronic disease will kill any savings asap. Have it neutered, and one less problem to worry about. But most importantly, enjoy!!! they dont stay cute and cuddly forever. I am owned by a ginger tom, and Siamese tom.... and believe me its hard work getting a seat in front of the radiator at night!
lol Mankz that was well played sir. EDIT: Here's one of mah kittehs. His name is Trigger and he's an idiot: Not sure what kind of cat he is. Have had him for 6 years now. He has a white lightning bolt shaped mark of fur on his head and some of my brother's friends used to call him Harry Potter until I punched each of them in the mouth. He is overly friendly and meows all the time, almost like he's not getting enough attention, but that is about as far from the opposite as possible. He'll sit on my lap and sleep when I'm on the PC and when I'm watching TV or playing my PS3. For some reason when I sleep he likes to sleep on my head and it makes my head warm (which with the way winter has been here n Montana 'aint a bad thing ) Cute kitten ya got there. I love when they are teeny tiny like that. Our other cat Mookie was ridiculously cute when she was tiny, and now she's a big old baby
+1, on both fronts. I'm sure you've all met his Royal Bobness before, but here he is again: And no, I have no idea why he was sleeping in the sink... There are days when he isn't the sharpest tool in the box.
My cats love the sink, I think it has something to do with supporting the whole body. Or maybe it's just them waiting for you to shave over them so they have the best angle on attacking your jugular.....
I just found out the hard way mine does NOT like being hugged. Not that much claws, tbh, but I still don't need to be a cat expert to understand what she meant
<.< Dude, my cat loves attention but hates being held... she will grab you with her front paws and bite you while scratching you her back!!!!!!! OUCH! Oh, you should have gotten a Maine ****!
