I found a guy selling a iBook G3 800MHZ with 684MB of RAM, and everything else. I'm needing it for school when I sit and class and take notes plus the odd internet surfing around the house nothing major. He just got it back from Apple service when they replaced the HDD, the logic board, and the power supply board. He says it only has 3 dead pixals, I can see 2 in the pictures he has sent me. He is also throwing in the VGA connector, and has all the original stuff that came with it. Long story short, I'm basically asking for the "go-ahead" from you Apple users. This will be the first time that I've seriously used an Apple. The only peice of software that I use thats strictly PC based is Yahoo Music Subscription. Oh and the package is $500 USD. Any advice or words of caution?
Befor people give you the "go ahead", you need to tel us how much your paying for it, then we can tell you if its worth it
I'd go by ebay prices and knock a little bit off There is one currently with a few minutes left at $380 USD
It's a good little computer. Bit short on ram. But I do think 500$ is a bit much. A new iBook G4 is "only" 1000$. I would try to knock a bit off the price. Go for something like 350-425$. Good luck. L
The g3's only had an ATi 9200 graphics chip with 32mb vram i think. Tiger wont be too hot on that, from what I've read anyway
I only need it for class, and I did talk him down to $500 shipped plus all the extras that he has for it, namely some software. Thanks for all the opinions.
I don't even play PC games anymore, I'm all about the consoles. Besides this computer is only for office, internet, and the occasional DVD playback. I think it will do well for what I'm asking it to do.
Yeah it will do. But I still think its rather expensive. You shouldn't be paying for the software or some extra's ... Try to push off another 50$ or so. Good luck! L
