system will be for gaming (hl2, bf2, guild wars) and homework. budget is only $800 MAX ($700 would be good though) for the entire thing (speakers, monitor, keyboard mouse) so the best processor availible in that budget is a 3000. please dont reccommend a 3200, as my friend cant afford. must be from newegg.com Monitor and harddrive ($150 total) are purchased locally) everything else is open to sugguestions (within the same price range. thanks! You'll probably end up saving a bit of cash from that too-the PCI Expres versions of 6600s are cheaper.
Your gonna need a new powersupply too as that crap one that comes with that case wont cut it. Trust me. And I would say get either a BFG or MSI 6600GT because 1) they are better than eVGA (shudders at the name evga) and 2) they can overclock nicely. Much worth the couple of extra dollars! And who's it for?
dont really play on overclocking anything, and i think well give power supply a try and see what happens. will change to a pny? (any good) graphics card. what r systems of underpowered system?
i would reccomend the NEC dual layer dvdrw its had spiffing reviews and a mucher lesser price than that!! you should find it about £31 inc. vat in various places.
