    Is it possible?

    1) Surround sound: you are ONLY provided with stereo RCA out. That's it. So that makes Zelda with Dolby Pro Logic 2x useless, cause even if it outputs in surround it can only physically output in stereo?!

    2) RGB SCART, not crappy composite to SCART. Seeing as you can get a component cable for the digital port is it possible to get a SCART one?

edit: i know you can get this but the GC connector is from the analouge port, so it's composite SCART not proper RGB.

yeah its possible to get a RGB scart as i have one, mines a third party one though which i got cheap from liksang. the official ones are pretty rare but much better apparently.

    *edit*
just seen your edit, i dunno if any work with the digi port :(

and about the sound, as far as i know DD2 is the only output format for the cube, there isnt a way of getting true 5.1 sound out of it.

Not sure about the RGB cables but there are LOADS available that are labelled as RGB scart. I don't know about the ports on the gamecube but I wouldn't like to think that that many manufacturers are making false brazen claims about their cables.

Use the stereo RCA plugs into an AV amp with PL2 to create the extra surround channels from the L+R signals. No true 5.1 AFAIK but PL2 can do a reasonable job.

It's still "RGB" but instead of the better quality, separate channels like true RGB SCART it just rewires the composite signal. The component cable allows progressive scan too, whereas the normal one doesnt.

Not supprising since a) the cable is chuffing expensive and b) users will opt for the analouge variety cause it's cheaper and what 3rd partys make and c) it wasnt supplied with the GC.

You can see the component one uses the digital port.

edit: roffles! $300AU for a YPrPb component to RGB SCART converter box :eeek:

edit: i lie, lik-sang is AWESOME!

    :D
The latter would produce better quality as the signal is kept digital. Converter boxes are always iffy at best and the DFP adapter is useful because if you buy other things from Japan you have the converter ready :D

OT: This is a nice idea!
