What would you recommend for this budget?

    Current specs:
GFX card: HIS ATI Radeon X1950pro
Processor: Intel e6300 1.86Ghz dual core.
    Memory: 2 Gig 800mhz
    Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI
    PSU: akasa paxpower 460W

and I've started having these graphics problems http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=154343 so it would seem a gfx card + psu upgrade is in order.

    Thanks!

Maybe Corsair HX520 ~£60 and Geforce 8800GT ~£105? That would be my suggestion. If you're able to sum up a bit more you could aso get a Radeon 4850 for ~£110-£115.

Thanks, is the Radeon 4850 a noticable upgrade then? And how about this PSU http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135514 corsair 650w TX which is £5 cheaper than the HX520 for some reason, or am I missing why?

The HX520 is modular I believe, whereas the TX650 is not.

It might be worth mentioning that when I upgraded my GFX from an ATi 128Mb card (no idea what it was, X300SE maybe...?) to an old 8800 GTS 320Mb (about 8 months ago) I kept a similar system running on a Dell 350W PSU :eeek: So if you went for a GT I recon 460w would be enough.

Save some money and go with the VX450 if you don't need modular. That will easily be enough to power everything.

Unless it's an old, noisy, or inefficient PSU there isn't much need to upgrade, surely? 460W should be enough for a dual core and a good graphics card. You could spend the money on a 4850, and if you have issues then upgrade the PSU, but otherwise just hold onto the money for now.

Well the reason for this upgrade is because of the problem I linked in the first post =p

Which is caused by the PSU... why?
