This story is odd. I can see why they might want to sue the makers of Rock Band - which comes with a Fender guitar. But Guitar Hero comes complete with licensed Gibson guitars, and I'm guessing someone at Gibson agreed to this at some stage?! So why have they changed their minds? Guitar Hero is produced by Red Octane. Only GH2, GH3, and GH Rocks the 80s are Activision. HTH
Doubtful, though could be that the ghost of Jimi Hendrix told EA not to for all we know, they won't say anything. Read about this a couple of weeks ago and thought it was very odd, seems like a tenuous association though guess it depends on the specifics of the Gibson patent
i don't see how gibson can win this, it seems that their patent is for a device that simulates playing a guitar, with the use of a VR headset. also guitar hero is really just simon says it doesnt allow you to create music of your own
To be more specific: Harmonix made GH 1/2/80s. Neversoft/Aspyr Media made GH 3. All were produced by Red Octane and Activision, except for the first which was just Red Octane. At least that's what wiki has to say.
does not hold water. why? the patent states: "simulate participation in a concert by playing a musical instrument AND wearing a head-mounted 3-D display that includes stereo speakers." it is to specific. besides that, isn't it a little to late?
I'm going to be cynical and say this is probably because people are still playing GH3. Once everyone's bored of that, we'll see Rock Band.
