gigabyte Motherboard question

    not really sure what it's called, but theres a bit of plastic in the gfx agp slot on the Gigabyte 8knxp board, i guess its on most others too, but i'm not sure whether i should bother taking it out or not ? it doesn't interfere with the insertion of the card so should i just leave it in ?

    IIRC, that motherboard has an AGP Pro slot, which uses just a few more pins to supply extra power for workstation cards. That plastic doohickey to which you're referring to is protecting the AGP Pro pins. Please leave it in, I've heard that it *can* interfere with proper seating of regular AGP cards. Even if that's not true, it can save you from an embarassing moment of trying to figure out why the hell your card won't fit when you're tring to jam it into the wrong pins.

    Yeah, just leave it in. It's there to stop the slot from getting dust when you're using an AGP 1/2/4 card in an AGP 8 slot.
