That's the thing they seem to be missing though, if they want an equal playing field for girl gamers they're not going about it the right way. They're finding a way to slot into the current setup, as something acceptable to your typical geek. I really feel stuff like this is all bit attentionwhorish. I've known girl gamers online for years without actually knowing they're girls. It just isn't important unless people choose to make a big deal of it.
Take away that "bit". "You got owned by a girl!" So what? Then when I kill her I should say something like "you got owned by a poor south american guy that lives in a 3rd world country!" I mean, who cares?! You're just a player, you can even be 9, 78, gorgeous, gay, I don't care about that, you're just a player! It's strange to find girls playing FPS because they don't like to play it, it's not that we don't allow them to play, it's just that they don't play it as much as boys do.
ok.... if they want to play... let them play... i am in need of some target practice and i dont care who it is... as long as i can blow them up with my rocket launcher. i know a girl that likes to play CS at our uni... i once aproched her i a calm way and asked her: what level of bots are you using? (they were bots and they were realy noob, noober than noob even) and she was all: ARE YOU SAYING THAT GIRLS CANT PLAY GAMES?????? realy.... i dont care, they can even play postal and manhunt that i dont care. edit: i have a friend, she is a girl and loves to play UT against me.... she is a newby but that alright, she practices and now i have to stay on my toes, she is getting good with the flak canon and the minigun.
This kind of article annoys me. Ive played with games all my computer geeky life and its not such a bigt thing - sure, the majority of people I play with are male but in the end who cares? The reason it annoys me is because women are always trying to get the better deal - which is fair enough because equal opportunity isnt quite 50/50 yet so sure keep the womens movement going - but theres really no need to go around telling all the gaming community that "omgwtfbbq women play games" - we know, we play games. If a girls good they get invited into the group, nobody (or at least very few) would single out a good player because of sex.
I don't even see an issue here, online gaming is one place guaranteed to be a level playing field. It's completely anonymous (if you wish) and available to anyone with a PC.
I fully agree with yoda here, im like all people, im a guy, and ile play againts other guys and girls, if i come accross one (guy/girl) ile still run them over in my Tank on BF2, as long as they dont mind, and get back into the game and pop me in the head with a sniper (very likley) i dont mind We all start somewere, men and womem alike, and everyone has an equal place to shot me, as long as i can shot you back. At the end of the day, a pile of gibs is always the same. No matter what it was originally, it looks better plastered on the floor and ceiling.,
