Luckily i have a girlfriend who is put off by things geeky, and refers to my blue, black n plexi box as "quite kool". Now as a present for her going to uni i somehow agreed to make her a fully custom PC which I have no problem doing. Just that there needs to be pink in the equation apparently. Im thinking of going with a gloss white case, keyboard, mouse n speakers and then interior lights and detail lights and LED's in pink to set it off. One problem though, you cant buy (quite rightly!) pink cathodes and LED's anywhere it seems! Help suggestions? I was thinking about painting (with the appropriate translucent paint) some clear white LEDs (can you get them?) in pink. deano.
afaik you cant mix light and get the same results as if you were mixing paint - however im sure you could esily make some LED/cathode filters for white versions out of lighting filter plastic, or like you suggest, translucent paint
Red CCFLs are mostly pinkish in colour, i'm yet to find one thats totally red (came close with sunbeam ones).
These look 'pink' - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=58063 Hope it helps
What you want to do is, get a white cathode, and buy some of that seran rap sorta paper, its clear and comes it colors. Buy it from paper stores or craft shops and use light glue to glue it. Im sure Ive seen an article on this, Ive tried it and my cathode is a nice looking purple. here is the article: http://www.gruntville.com/howtos/ccflwrap/
I made my wife's shuttle PC totaly pink. The monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, even the ATI remote. You can get a color of krylon Fusion called "Fairytale pink" But clearcoat the paint! I have not images of my wife's PC, as the paint didn't last long under use. I have to repaint the keyboard and mouse now. I used some white cold cathodes, LEDs, and some "Red' ones that look very pink.
just spoke to her and "yes it has to be pink!" so bang goes my iPod idea! What on earth colour lighting can I use with it? She says yellow i reckon thats too much! Btw where can I find a stealth drive FAQ as I want blank drive face plates that you just press in one corner to open! deano.
Don't think Kong would like being honked That seller is very good by the way, I got 50 UV LEDs for £5 from there.
