    From VNUNet:

GNER claims it will revolutionise the UK rail industry when it broadband-enables its fleet of high-speed trains.

From next year, travellers using east coast mainline, which runs between London's Kings Cross and Aberdeen and Inverness, will be able to use Wi-Fi-enabled laptops and handheld computers to access the internet or check their emails from the train.

GNER believes the service will be such a success that passengers will shun other forms of transport in favour of the train.

    Full story here

Funnily enough, RTT and I where talking about this idea as we travelled down to Bristol last Saturday. Nice Idea - it doesn't matter how crap the timetables are, you can still get on with stuff while the tracks buckle around you....

    :D

I'm still waiting for broadband to be enabled in this really strange place called ... home!

I wish they would stop wasting money on broadband in lame places that the majority of people wont use and start getting it to _every_ home in Britain!!

It's a catch, they aren't going to install anything, read the following line very carefully...

GNER claims it will revolutionise the UK rail industry when it broadband-enables its fleet of high-speed trains.

There aren't any high speed trains in the UK.

Maybe they should "revolutionise" the UK rail industry by making trains actually on time for once, and fix the rail network so that a bit of heat or tree leaves don't mean they have to apply spead restrictions  honestly this rail network is f***** crap and they call this a first world country, I wonder sometimes.

I believe UK is called a 1st world country because it's kinda on the side of USA and fellow democratic nation, second world being communist and soviet countries (what few that exist) 3rd world being neutral countries

The number world a country is given isn't down to its political stance, it's down to the economy and technological advancement.
