    Hi all
after some MOD never finished, I decided to realize a MOD about WOW and what interests me in this game : the gnome engineering

(c'est plus simple d'écrire la langue qu'on connait le mieux)

and a horrible picture as before taste :

    Hehe cool idea :)

I thought about making a steam-tunk for a while, but as i havent really done any other mods yet, i figured a special-tower mod like that would be too much :p

I warn you immediately, it isn't a question of a watercooling, I intend to buy a quiet aircooled configuration , tubes are a simply décoration ;)

    Hello

I begin very well (in my opinion).

I didn't take photo every time during the work but I'm going to try to explain you the progression of the project

I start by the side of the box

I cut steel sheets which I stuck on the compensated wood boards
    [IMG]

After, I make the decoration, boards after boards

    I started with front side:
I envisaged placing 2 gears (2 toothed wheels?), 1 senfu, 1 light, and the start of the tubular decoration.

    The gears:
I bought 2 wheels in a bike shop and for the fixation I take 2 PVC connections and a piece of tube (I am lucky: the axis of the tube corresponded to that of the wheel to the millimetre)
    I cut the tube
    [IMG]
    And fix all
    [IMG]

    The senfu:
I wanted to keep the "gnomish metal" style so I painted the cover with a coppered painting
    [IMG]

    The light:
For the light I wanted something that stay in the metal and gnomish spirit
I took an old red cold cathode, a braided sheath, pieces of copper tube, 2 brass closures, and tube fixations.
I made a "home made" fixation with the tubes, the closures, and the tubes fixations
    [IMG]
And assembled with the cold cathode
    [IMG]

The start of the tubular decoration
I simply cut tube PVC to dimension and placed the first both connection.
I made a hole on the tube to put one manometer
    [IMG]

    The first Borad

I placed all decorations on the board, I took measurements and I worked with the saw, the file, and the drilling machine to give this result:

And the final result of the first board
    [IMG]

    see you ^^

edit: on my ftp you will find other images of the advance of the case. indeed the project is already quite advanced but I need a little time to write the history and to put of it the images in the order, I thus invite you has not to see the other images, especially if you want to preserve the screen of the history and the suspense

(in any case if you look at the other images on the ftp will know that all is not yet places from there and that that will waste your pleasure: D)

I really like what you did with the cold cathode, it's very innovative :)

cool mod, i only have two comments.

first, why steel? why not aluminum. second, what image hosting are you using? it takes absolutly forever to load all of the pics.

I used steel because the ingenery gnome don't know aluminium, also because it is cheaper and finally steel rusts naturally

moreover the weight of steel will be a good rampart with the vibrations :naughty:

to host the picture i use free, a french free provider, i upload very simply, i have 1 go de stockage, but it's

to host the picture I use free, a French provider. It offers me 1go free storage (same if I don't subscribed on their premises), one accés relatively simple with the ftp, but on the other hand it is slow :(

    slow but simple and free

    see u later :dremel:

Let us pass to the right side of the case.

For this side I had in the idea to place a gear wheel, a play of light, a pressure gauge (I noticed that the gnomes put some everywhere), and the continuation of the decoration out of tube PVC.

Good, let us start with easiest: the pressure gauge.

Considering I recovered several I chose that which would be harmonized best with the front side of the box, which will give desire for being seen without attracting the glance, and I retained this one:

Then I continued tubular decoration Not to change, I took the falls of tubes of the front side,

I adjusted and placed the whole (has little near) so that that is encased, but that is for all has the hour.

the idea which complicates the whole is that I hoped to still place a toothed wheel (recovered from my old rusted bicycle) and a play of light. If I had chosen to make these two things, that will have charged the side too much, compared to the frontage

after reflection, and by looking at the tricks available I had in the idea to couple both: the wheel and the light!

    A little like that:

    And from my shifting track

    That I have repaints

I took my old light of bicycle

And I tried to adapt the whole. By chance (still) the axis of the lamp was (after filing and milling) identical to the axis of the PVC connection, itself identical at the wheel-toothed axis selected (fabulous :D)

so that unit don't rub against the wall of the box, I manufactured a small plexiglass disc as shows it the following photographs:

And the whole, once assembled, that gives this:

"But where is the light?" you'll say me! i found a stroboscope LED kit velleman© in seeking a little

I arranged a fixation, using Scotch tape, to hold the red diode of the kit,and i placed the whole as well as possible so that that functions, and here is the result:

And a small video in action

And here is an image of the side, complete :

wow this thing is awesome has the potential to be as good as the Half life 2 mod out of interest will any of the meters be functional it would be cool if they work in sync with the internals, in fact, it would be cool if they just surged and span around at random that would be more gnome engineering esque

    HI all

Well ! for this third part we will try to make simple, clean, and gnomesque!

already, from what will I speak?

hum ... yes ... the left side this evening!

on this side I would like at least two elements, including one precise

since the beginning of the MOD, I want to make a thing, as a spiral helmet.

    remerber :naughty:

    Yes ! that !

Well, let us start from this idea, and hup, that give that:

but how to make it hold?

    ...Hum ...

    ..YES !

Thanks to the numerical magic (and also with the two-sided Scotch tape)

however I would need something to make turning that ...

but I am not gifted in electronics... to lay an offset and to make the circuit, that doesn't connect me too much... (Pun hoho, in French in any case)

what do I have under the hand?

    LEGO© brick !!!

And i'm going to build a speed-reduction gear with lego...

After several intensive hours of search of parts and construction, I present this to you:

And its splendid lego support , stuck with hot adhesive

    The whole, assembled:

remain to fix that on the wall... another pair of handles...

I mill, I bore, I file, I fabric and POUF! I obtain a support overmeasure:

    with the lego :

Following all this, I was going to research something not really useful but very "gnome design"

And then, while looking by the window of my room, I saw the graal:

And after a little bit of physical exercise, a little danger, and much infringement, the epic item (almost artifact) was in my possession (I swear you Mister the agent, I found it in the bottom of the reverberator!)

    TADAAA !

an end of copper tube of 40, recuperation of brass stem, and 2 screws we will be used as fixation

    after drilling and tapping

And here a splendid support of bulb

And as I am sympathetic, a small video of the spiral

    http://super.cortex.man.free.fr/Modif Pc/GIP/MVI_0214.avi

    A bientôt ^^
