where there is a will and a PC, there is a way.
MW2 dedicated server hack
Unfortunately, it's illegal. IW will no doubt do everything in their power to try and shut down any servers hosting games.
regardless of the outcome, im still laughing for this is greatest "**** you" ive ever seen
This is incredible.
I'm lawling all over my room right now.
Win of epic proportion...
There is always hope Once dedis are stable and cheat-free I am so buying MW2. I just hope that the modding required to get this isnt classified as a cheat by VAC, or that Activision dont release a patch (which on steam will be automatically d/l'ed) to make the hack impossible.
Can't say it any better than that
Id like to think that it wont be blocked in some way, after all it isnt making a huge difference to the game, But ive got an idea that activision may just do something about it
yeah i reckon this will be pounced on pretty quick, full kudos to the modders though this is quite a feat.
personally if i had MW2 though im pretty sure the chance of a VAC ban would put me off. would be hilarious if you also need a cracked copy of the game to run dedi's.
looks like no MW3 for the PC then folks
Now that is quite a feat.
I mean, I obviously expected this to happen eventually, but one week? holy s***
Apparently the code for dedicated servers was already there, they just decided not to go with it and deactivated it at a late stage.
They just updated the MW1 engine so the code would be there. Course now all they have to do is edit it out of the engine in a patch and no dedis for legit players.
Ok, I'm a noob when it comes to multiplayer so please forgive me for this question..
What exactly does a dedicated multiplayer server mean? How does IW not supporting one affect me as a PC player? Will I not be able to properly play a good multiplayer match? What limitations does not having a dedicated server cause?
Can someone please explain this to me. Sorry!
A dedicated server is like a computer that is there 24/7 that you can always connect to. They are usually in a place with a proper network infrastructure to provide super fast speeds to connected players. Because of this each player has a lower ping which is a measure of how long it takes to send data (packets) back and forth between YOUR computer and the dedicated server. The lower your ping the less time it takes to receive data which means less lag, more frag.
You can think of a packet as something containing information such as where the player is, which direction they are moving, if they are shooting, where they aiming, etc, etc.
Of course, this is where IWNet falls short. Your average internet connection is going to have an abysmal upload speed compared to a dedicated server which means that it will take longer to send a full packet between the player's and the host resulting is horrendous lag. Also the 'server' won't be up 24/7 because it's being hosted on a person's computer where they will eventually (I should hope!) leave the game at some point thus leaving anybody else in the game at the time without a host which may cause all the players to lose any progress (XP, challenges, etc) they've made during the game.
hahaha, this is awesome.
Man, I hope IW just allows this to become a semi-official mod...
Holy hell, this is why you don't mess with the PC community.
I lul'd epic lulz.
For what it is, it's great to see, but it's these kind of servers that really irk me and not the dedicated ones I would like to use as examples of why dedi's are better.
Still, for what it shows, it's epic.
