Final post really, before Frank get's it back for mounting on his V2000.

I got some Alu plate for the base mounting. The comrpessor is pretty light, but over time the thin base of the V2000 won't take the weight very well, so it needs a little help. I wanted to make sure the install will be easy and pretty, so got some 2.5mm plate for him. It measured 200mm by 500mm, so after the corners are cut to fit the case properly, it's very close to full length, so full strength.

I supported it on 'stands' to ensure the strength was there. It's currently on the shiny side with no sticker, I'm leaving that on so he can peel it off just as it's installed so he get's the best finish.

It bows just a tiny bit under full weight with only the edges supported, so for shipping, and after install it will be very secure.

It's mounted on the reverse side, and it's also the wrong way around because for shipping that's the best way really. The condensor actually overhangs a little when it's installed to the plate the other way around and that's what it needs to do so that it lines up just right for the 120mm fan support at the front of the V2000. Should be a very easy install.

I'm going to 'notch' the corners to fit around the wheel bolts and the rear tray on the V2000, and then the outside and center of the base will get some foam adhesive backing. That should make it so that the case get's little to no damage. I'll be putitng the foam onto it so it's not seen from the top and it just looks 'right', but some care will need to be taken not to scratch the Lian Li of course.

To be honest, I think he could get away without actually bolting that plate down when it's all together and it would still be secure but really it's always a good idea. The foam under the plate will dampen vibration and keep it in place though, so really it's up to him as long as the condensor is supported with the fan support attached at the front.

We'll have to wait for Frank to recieve it, and get it installed for the final update, and I'm sure he'll be happy to do that :D

    Edit:

plate cut, in place in the case. I drilled and threaded 4 holes for standard size case screws (larger ones) That's about it til he get's it I suppose :hip:

    Cheers
