Have been trying to find gold or bronze coloured case screws for my build without success. Can find black and chrome no probs but nothing in gold. Have any of you seen any on your modding travels? Have tried M3 brass machine screws but the threads didn't quite match.
Nah, not looking for thumbscrews. After the general purpose ones used for fixing mobo, graphics cards, HDD etc.
Did you try 6-32 brass screws ? M3 seams to be used for optical, 2.5" HDD/SSD and floppy drives. 6-32 is used for 3.5", expansion cards, case panels, etc. Here is a wiki page about case screws : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_case_screws
The only screws I was able to find are there : http://www.ebay.com/itm/25-Vintage-...517?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51ae37117d They are a little longer than the traditional computer screws, but maybe a dremel could fix it.
Shipping on that one is a little steep! Have sent a message to another US ebay seller asking for a price for carriage. Hopefully theirs will be a little lower. Appreciate the help.
I know this feeling. I live in France and often what I'm after is only available in the US (ex: this lovely ECS thin-ITX LGA1150 motherboard) ... so postage are outrageous . No problem for the help
Good old paint should work. I have done it using a rattle can and poking the screws through cardboard. Worked fine and didn't chip. I'd just run a tap through the holes to make sure you don't need to put much torque on the screws. I am doing the same thing to color match my rivets for my next mod. Oh yeah, just make sure the screw head isn't actually touching the cardboard or they will try to stick. http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/universal/universal-hammered-spray-paint/
