oh man... spent some time on that one... valkarie shot the food!...lol
I love DOS!
Commander Keen 1 & 4
Duke Nukem 1 & 2 (not Duke 3D, never cared for it much)
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
Out Of This World
Jill of The Jungle (made by Epic Megagames back in the day)
A few other's I can't remember
OK another old Fav, Streetfighter and Mortal Kombat, yes I was (and still am) a fighting game junkie. Nothing better to play with a friend.
don't forget the short but glorious era of wire-frame games...
I owned at
and the odd laserdisk age
I sucked at them but loved watching them..
slicks and slides
Simcity (EVERY version!)
who hasn't plunked down about $1000 into Pole Position...lol... oh, I'm dating myself..
my cousin had a vectrix (sp?) with like 30 games, the one I remember most was called Spike.
You can't say that and not mention ELITE!
"Welcome Commander Jameson"
Wire frame space combat / trading on A BBC Micro. In 1984.
I doubt Privateer would have been made if it wasn't for this game...
Go on - download it! the site has all the varied versions of Elite that came out, and it's all freeware now.
Roland on the Ropes/Roland in the Caves (Amstrad CPC464)
Harrier Attack (Amstrad CPC464)
Maniac Mansion (NES version)
The Leisure Suit Larry collection
Another World (Amiga)
Robocop III (Amiga)
ANY Mario game
Xenon/Xenon II (PC)
PacLand (Arcade/PC Engine)
Defender (Atari 2600)
Kangaroo (Atari 2600)
SimCity 2000 (PC)
F29 Retaliator (PC)
Ripper (PC - best FMV adventure EVER!)
...the list goes on - there are hundred's from my childhood that I played to death and would consider classics!
Yet again, I've been reminded of other greats I loved:
Slicks and slide - Proof that a game doesn't need to be complex to be BRILLIANT fun, especially 2 player!
Anything id or apogee did in the platform games... Commander keen, crystal caves, cosmo's cosmic adventure (go on, call me sad), hocus pocus....didn't really get into duke nukem though.
Wacky Wheels! Brilliant fun, again a great 2 player game.
Raptor. Tyrian 2. Superb.
Death Rally.... anyone remember that? kinda like slicks and slide in a way, but far more advanced. Not as much fun though...
Ahhh...the days of great shareware. Sadly gone....
And a couple more:
Tie Fighter. The best of the star wars games imo, also with the Tie Defender expansion pack. Xwing vs Tie Fighter and the Rebel Assault series just weren't as good...
Dune 2 - Battle for Arrakis . The only RTS I ever got into. Never liked C&C, RA, Warcraft, Starcraft....Dune 2 was teh 0wnage.
Tie fighter was the best of the series.
There's a reason for that though - You get to play the bad guys! Good may triumph over evil, but evil has more fun.....
It was great that it was difficult - go head to head against an X-Wing in a Tie fighter that has no defelctors and only minimal armour and coming out as the winner =
And Tie Interceptors
Mean 18 Golf
Ah the good ole days of gaming. I always liked the adventured games myself. Monkey Island, King's Quest, Space Quest, and the Leisure Suit Larry series we my favs. The entire Zelda series and the Final Fantasy series up to 7 was good to. Doom and Doom 2 stayed on my PC for a LONG time. Now waiting on Doom 3!!!!!
pirates gold - if anyone knows where i can get a copy from (hint, hint)
adventure (coleco vison)
ladybug (coleco vision)
zaxxon (coleco vision)
Final Fantasy 1 (nes)
operation wolf (arcade)
hmmm, thought Underdogs may have it but apparently it's still available to buy (ie, not abandonware) - unless you can find somewhere else to d/l it from (not that I'm suggesting you do )
Dang... and I thought I had some old forgoten titles...
First and formost Mechwarrior, can't believe the ditch the whole bid on your contracts thing...
Civilizations was my next addiction, followed closely by crystal caves...
One I didn't see was Seventh Guest, and eleventh hours. Or Ceasar I - III.
Ohhh and for Biggie : Pacman online
how about gorrilas in BASIC that came with dos? now thats oldschool.. i also have a keen rememberance of playing frogger on my XT..
hehe, I forget about that! loved that game, sooo simple but so addictive.
You remember Nibbles too? Was the other game that came with BASIC, basically the same as the Snake game on Nokia mobile phones.
I remember playing those two on our old 8086 (640k RAM, 12MB HDD, Hercules 64K Graphics card (4 shades of green) - Great fun!)
