That's an interesting point Isotopian. Of course, while the material will be familiar, the control system will be VASTLY different: keyboard / mouse vs gamepad. For many, this mod will be a chance to experience the game for the many who never played it the first time, put off by rubbish graphics and awkward controls. (compared to PC FPS games)

I'm certainly one of those people. Now, if only I could get to drive a DB5...

For the time, the GE graphics were fantastic. I just hope they can fit in some sort of singleplayer experience into the package for the utlimate trip down memory lane. GoldenEye remains on the few games to make me genuinely sweat with fear and excitement - waiting for precisely the right moment to pop out from behind a corner and try and take out a CCTV camera and a patrolling guard with my silenced pistol without alerting the whole base.

I thought I read somewhere a while back they were having Legal problems with MGM about the license for this game and they were forced to abandon the project. Or perhaps thats another Mod I'm thinking of? Then again I do often have nightmares about fan projects being shutdown lol.

    Go Go Wing Commander Pioneer!

This isn't the first fan-based GoldenEye mod ever made - there is almost one for every 3D engine ever made since the N64 version in 1997. I have had no word on legal problems with this particular project, but I'd be gobsmacked if they make it to v1.0 without the lawyers stepping in.

Unfortunately, they won't care that it's free & 100% non-profit. They won't care that it will widen the James Bond fanbase, not cost them sales. They will just issue a Cease & Decist order and ruin everyone's fun.

I'd be ecstatic if I was proved wrong...

Ah... Goldeneye. I remember no one would play with me, because I had gotten so good I memorized the location and order of the spawn points. Great stuff. The other day I actually found that there is a Egypt and Complex map out on CS: Source already (filter maps with 007. they'll pop up) but they seem relatively crude. Egypt is pretty fun though.
Just a thought here, but what will they do for the Golden Gun? just make it like the Magnum, with a ridiculously powerful bullet?

If this game turns out to be as good as the original, then I'd be more happy to "donate" some money.

Yeah, i know, but I've been waiting too long for that one to have any faith left in it... :sigh: It better kick ass or I'll be mad. But it'd be even sweeter on PC than console.

I think that could warrant a re-install of Half Life 2.

Its looking pretty nice, the maps arn't that spectacular but the models are looking hawt. :p

If Bit-Tech are interested in other source mods then the Perfect Dark mod is still in construction and the Dystopia mod is due to be released on friday.

Those are the two mods i'm looking out for the most.
