Other Good electronics website?

Thought I'd pop this in here.

Anyone know a good electronics website that does small orders of parts for good prices? I use Farnell, but looking for items can be a pain at times Something like Maplins, but better prices and a slightly larger selection...

Rapid are good for small quantaties, as opposed to RS and Farnell which are good for bulk orders

Whats the technical name for the socket an IC goes into??? I cannot find one

IC holder, IC socket are good search terms. There are a few different types. A common one like a mobo BIOS chip sits in is a 'DIL holder' ('DIL socket'). Dual In-Line.

 

Yeh, found it For some reason I always get it confused with DIP sockets... I honestly don't know why

 

Have you tryed CPC are they any good

 

Yeh, but again, are like Farnell, it's easy to get lost unless you know exactly what your looking for

 

cpc and farnell are the same company

 

With all of them you'll find the paper catalogues much easier to use than the web sites - I'd include a set with your first order.
