The big problem with peltiers is that they get so cold that you get condensation.

This would work, but you're going to want the peltier to be isolated from the rest of the computer to avoid the condensation.

Now it's becoming hard to build a box :/

Tell me if this would work:
make holes on the sides (like those matrix cases from chieftec) and put a hs on the hotside of the peltier(s) and 2fan's on the upperside of the box that suck out cold air against the bottles.
Or does someone have another idea for me ?

*EDIt* shadow it would be a separated small box :)

It would possibly work. I would test it out in the case with only the power supply, the fans and the peltier. It is possible that your box will start to sweat, requiring insulation around the outside of the box.

What if you put the peltier in an old cd-rom (on the tray). That would make it easy to get power and you could hack away the nonessential cd-rom parts to allow room for aheat sink and a fan.

when you use it. pop out the tray flick the power switch and set your drinks on top!

i hoped not to have insulation on the outside, only the inside as the outside would be those ironplates u see in tuned cars and stuff, if u understand me. so would it condens on the outside?

Well, the way I understand it is this:

You get condensation when the surface becomes cooler than the air around it. The water in the air condenses on the cool surface and you get drops of water everywhere.

The cold side of the peltier will get water on it, if it is working correctly. If I follow you correctly, you will have the peltier mounted in its own box inside the system (with a fan sucking that cold air out and onto the drink) - so that should help contain the water. But, if it gets cool inside that box, the box itself will be cooler than the air inside the case and you have condensation again.

I think it's going to take some experimentation to work it out...thats why I suggest you work with just the minimum equipment to cut down on the risk of short circuits.

Then again, I may not be understanding what you want to do at all and I may just as well be full of sh*t...haven't done this myself yet.

I think what you should do is have a metal box, inside your case with an opening to the outside. Thermal epoxy 2 (or more) pelts to the sides of the box, Heatsink fan'em then spray that foam insulation all over the parts except for the HSF's.

u mean the opening on the hsf's can that be a iron plate but with 2 blowholes for the fans or would that do the trick? because seeing that foam isn't quite goodlooking :)

i would suggest some kind of rectangle hole in the side of the case - for which 'walls' surround it so something like this:

    (face on)

    Code:
    ------------------

    ----- |

    ----- |

    ------------------

use those peltier blocks to line the inside, so all you would do is place the canned drinks in this 'hole' and they would be cooled by the system surrounding to hole - i think

and for any condensation, a hole which leads to some kind of outake pipe could be used - something similar to what you see on those drink machines (that use syrup coke etc) where there is a grill for the spillage to fall though - like an exhaust pipe, spilling the condensation onto someone elses rig at a LAN party :hehe:

hope i explained that ok lol - its a great idea (your idea to cool drinks)

i know its not very original, but they make single can size holders that are pelt cooled.. what if you use one of those and fabricate it into the front of your case..

anothing thing to consider i or anyone else really mentioned, most pelts draw from 55-150 watts of juice.. :(

I had another one bookmarked, but I lost it. It was a single pelt version with a home built (poured lead I think) cold plate that followed the contour of the bottom of a Coke can.

In my mind, I see an antifreeze/waterblock/copper coil/pelt dual system... I have seen (Can't remember where) some articles on double water cooling, using antifreeze, pelts and 2 seperate water pumps and a radiator.... Stay with me here...

Wrap a coil of small copper tubing with a hole the size of the can/bottle and run it through a pump, and then through dual liquid cooled peltiers with a water block sandwiched between the cold sides. On the hot sides of the pelts, run water blocks on a radiator cooled pump setup... Circuilate the water through the waterblocks on the hot sides of the peltiers and through the radiator (Black ice or such) cooled by 2 120mm deltas... You should be able to get the coil down below freezing, but still be able to get the can/bottle in there..

Maybe I'm crazy, but it would work...You would have to use a full server tower, or better yet, one of those cubes, and isolate the two sides. put in a flip up lid on the top with access to the coil, and you should be able to make Ice for the others to boot...
