it's actually dem varmin And don't get your hackles up, remember this is the whiny euro's we're talking about here
Even if it's a joke, it's still funny in its satirical mockery. I didn't know that the thread would turn into another off-topic pissing contest. Maybe the brits are just jealous that we improved upon their language =P.
you've been here long enough to know that if a thread can turn into UK vs US, it will turn into UK vs US
http://www.smith.edu/hsc/museum/ancient_inventions/steamengine2.html Heron is my hero and his designs are awesome OT: i think this is just stupid, i could do better my self with a hammer and some aluminum. anyway, why not just put a weapon connected to a robotic arm with camera and control it from your TV with your remote.... now that is much better.
More syllables for the win! Elevator > lift. Apartment > flat. See what I mean, your comment was entirely composed of single-syllable words.
A fact that I demand should be drilled into the minds of every computer enthusiast who thinks otherwise. We owe those guys a lot more attention than they've received for their work. <A88>
If the shoe fits... Now this is the sort of comment that makes me spit out my double-skinny decaf mocha latte in outrage!
I can forgive the alternate words: faucet vs tap I can forgive the acute shortage of U's: honor vs honour But I can't forgive the *******isation of perfectly good words for no reason: burglarized vs burgled. We were getting burgled before your nation had even been founded (especially where I come from...) Oh, and for the record... these threads aren't US vs UK. It's US vs The Rest of the World. We *all* hate you. [joke] I used to enjoy the clashes between my course head and the head of the school at University. The first was a young English bloke of Pakistani origin, but he was partially US educated and a member of the IEEE, and he love to use what were then non-words like functionality. Whereas the head of the school used to hate such Americanisations and would threaten to dock points if we used them. A staunch supporter of the Queen's English. Ironically, he was Austrian.
lol, I wasn't being serious, you know. American english really does butcher some words though. BUT, at least we're not trying to dumb it down further! Didn't know that. What about color and theater?
Neither was I The English language dose not need to be dumbed down people(chav's) just need to learn to talk.
