Ok, I'm sure there is somewhere else to get these things since B.G. Micro seems to have sold out of them.. Any ideas? - I know the part # is 03622-122-09220 (03632-122-09220 for the wide voltage version) - The official name is: IEE Century 2x20 Dot-Matrix VFD - They originally sold for only $20 apiece but went up to $25 when they became so popular and it would be just too awesome to find them for around that price I've been in Google the past hour powersearching so none of that Google linky crap please.. I'm looking to get about 4 or 5 of them since all of my friends that have seen mine are going bonkers to get their hands on one - since me making some mulah and getting to play with lots of VFD's isn't all that bad of an idea, I'm trying to find them again.
dunno, best bet probably is to go back to that absurd thread on that absurd forum and look for people who bought multiples, then hit them up to sell you one. Worked for me
Personally I'd forget the BG Micro display, head to ebay and wait for a load of any old random serial VFD's to be on sale... there are some real bargain on there, and if you take your time and figure out how LCDC works you can make it work with most serial displays Look out for Noritake displays in cash register sizes selling (4x20, 2x40's), I've seen them sell for less than $15 a pop and they retail for $100+ Just my 2p... a bargain is only a bargain until everyone realises it was a bargain (it's like the old saying 'when you realise you're happy you're not'). Rob.
You weren't talking about RabidHardware, were ya? That's where I heard of it in the 1st place.. and if so, absurd is a good choice of wording.. (edit) Wow! I feel so privelaged to have both Linear and ::Cheese:: in my little post! Things must be looking up!
Yes they can be run serial or parallel. and It's a VFD so I don't know why a red filter wouldn't work.. If I find a source, I'll let you know.
