    Hi,

I'm looking at changing to water cooling, and am investigating mounting locations in my case. Don't really want to have to buy a new case (its only 4kg, ultra light weight, etc etc).
The case I have is a Thermaltake XaserIII LANFire.
On the front there is a 80mm fan hole, pic: [IMG]

The radiator I'm considering is a 90mm type, and I reckon with some dremeling, it'd fit (there's quite a bit of clearance on the side), however.... contrary to the above picture, there's no mesh on the front of the case, there's the plastic case front, with some slits on the case in front:

My question... is that sufficient airflow for such a radiator?

    Thanks :)

Ideally youd want a 120mm rad in there (if your going to dremel a hole for a 92mm rad, you may aswell go for the full sh-bang) - that is if you have the space.

The front may be a bit of a problem, but i cant really comment on that.

Have you also thought of mounting a radiator on top (with blow holes) - again a 120.1 or 120.2.

Cut out the mesh on the front to improve airflow performance.
I have the same case and did the same thing.

    Did you put a 120mm fan/rad/whatever in?
    Reckon there's space for that?

    Thanks :)

What is the advantage of 120mm over 90mm? *newbie to water cooling* ;)

That same advantage a 90mm has over a 80mm rad. The rad is bigger thus it cools the water more. The water goes over more metal surface area. What will you be cooling? That'll determin the size of the rad that you need.

Take a CD and put it on the inside of the case and see if theres enough room for it, plus an extra inch or two on top of it. A CD is the size of a 120mm fan, the extra inch on top would be where the in/out barbs would be located. Thats a ROUGH way to estimate if they'll be enough froom.

Probably to start off with, CPU and GPU (possibly northbridge as well).

wow.. there's bucketloads of space at front, plenty of space for a 120mm.
