this is what i want to get so far

    Intel i7 920 processor
    Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 or Asus P6T deluxe/"V2"?? motherboard
    Corsair 6gb DDR3 RAM
Samsung spinpoint F3 SATA and SH-S202J DVDRW drive

i'll be using my bro's old graphics card to begin with but may upgrade at some point. this PC is for music production on Ableton, im thinking of keeping it off the internet so i can be sure of no viruses.

is this a good combination and do you know any good PSU makes? on amazon they have a £35 "Colors-IT" 750w, £60 "Atrix" 800w, £60 "OCZ" ModXStream 600w, £80 Corsair TX 650w.. i was thinking around 700w but i don't want to buy a shitty make, any advise would be great:jawdrop:

Steer well clear of Coolermaster then. :(

Personally I would go with the Be Quiet Dark Power Pro or Corsair HX620 or HX750.

I really can't see why so many people are wary of Cooler Master power supplies. I've always used them (practically the only brand with a strong presence in India) and I've never had any power-related problems.

I hate it when people say things like that...

Tell people which one you had, how long ago and what the problem was. If it was the only 1 they have ever made that went pop after 10 years of use then it ain't too bad in my opinion, but if there are stories out there of half of their stock going pop after 2 -3 months then thats a different story.

But just to leave it like you have :wallbash:

Be Quiet, Enermax, Seasonic and Corsair are the brands that seem to get high reviews.

I had an Enermax Liberty 500W for ages that was rock solid.
Just upgraded to a Corsair HX750, which is running great.

I was going to get a Coolermaster, but read of someone on here getting one, and the fan squealed, RMAd it, fan squealed again. So I went for the Corsair instead.

For around 700W, you want to be paying around about the £100 mark, no less than £90 IMO (for modular atleast). Non-modular around £75ish.
