Im not looking for cheap, just good (100%) uptime hosting. Ive started a couple of reseller domains and wanting the support section off the main host. This would give my clients support even if the main site goes wrong. 99% uptime isnt good enough when your talking about support. Im expecting to offer clients 100% support even if a single host cant guarantee this 100% uptime. Ive had dealing with 1and1 for domain names but any suggestions for Linux business hosting? ~50Mb disk space, PHP4, MySQL 1 database with good size and known best/great uptime. Thanks
k1z.com has been fantastic for me, (only running a small business website though). They do custom packages and support has been great. Give them a try.
I wish more hosts would think like you! Our host @ work went down recently and there was no way of contacting them, as their support site and main site were located on the same hosting...
@simon w You are only as good as your last mistake. I too had this experience at home and with work accounts so will try my best not to do the same to others. I'll be offering from £20 a year hosting from a tier1 location, normally you expect nasty support at this price but in my opinion there is no excuse. @Will Again thanks Will but that a ppc blog using Everyones Internet. (http://www.cheapmobiles4u.co.uk is one of my parked sites) Hope you get money from it but doesnt help me.
Why not set the support section up on your own internet connection? That way you have more control over it. Or co-locate a box in a data center?
say what now? Pay per click blog? Um... no, thats web hosting. I why would i get money from my host? I'm pretty sure i pay them. I'm confused...
100% uptime is practically impossible to guarantee. 5 9's is the best most companies offer (i.e. 5 mins of scheduled downtime a year). We've got racks of kit in multiple datacentres but still only put 99.99% uptime on our servers etc
1&1 is very good. I use http://www.000webhost.com/ - its free, but can use your own domain and website hasn't been down at all. Get cPanel as well
I run a small hosting site if you PM me I'm sure we can sort you something out for free. cPanel etc etc.
Looks like it was bumped by a spammer (who's post has now been removed). I really must look at post dates
http://www.linode.com/ for DIY, or webhosting.uk.com for out of this world support. Also use cloudflare.com for your dns and you'll never have a customer ask where your support site has gone
