Got a zx2 compact the other day, swiped left to find an abhorrence there. Anyone know how to remove the Google news feed page entirely? Google searches have got as far as disabling it, but removing suggests clearing a launcher, which I don't seem to have in my apps list.
Can you just use an alternative launcher instead? I like Nova Launcher, and much prefer it to any of the default launchers that I've tried (Samsung, Motorola, Wileyfox and the stock Google launcher)
I shall have to investigate this launcher business. I've also heard that having Roots by Sepultura on your phone can improve things. I might give that a go.
I've avoided cocking round with phone OS as I do enough damage to my pc that leaves it out of action for weeks at a time and never had a major problem with just removing or disabling bloatware. But enforcing an entire front page, the one I used to have all my main apps on (I kept the middle one blank previously) is just annoying the fudge out of me.
@The_Crapman , it really sounds like you just need a new launcher then. It really does bug me that Android is supposed to be the mobile OS that gives you loads of control over how you set it up, but you end up getting stuff like the Google search bar plastered across your home screens. Fortunately, a new launcher will solve many of those problems. Nova has a free version which is actually really decent, and a paid version that does a bit more. There are plenty of alternative launchers out there, but Nova is what I use so I'd suggest giving it a try.
IIRC there's a setting to turn it off [unless Sony in their infinite stupidity have removed it]. After a quick google - Tap and hold on home screen Tap the settings/cog icon Go to 'Advanced' there should be a toggle for 'Google Now', turn it off. ...or use a different launcher. +1 for Nova, or surprisingly, the Microsoft launcher [though for you personally i think Nova would be the better bet].
