For that past couple of days Google has been getting on my nervs. For some reason it is only searching UK sites be default. Unfortunately, most of the sites I want are outside of the UK. It is related to search tools and I need to manually change it to "any country" all the time. I can seem to find anything in the settings about it. Is anyone else experiencing this "feature", how to turn it off.
Google these days tries to be smart about things, giving you relevant local result along side international ones. I don't think search for UK results only, or search worldwide is really a thing any more. That said, I'm not sure if this still works, but http://www.google.com/ncr (or https://www.google.com/ncr) used to turn of location recognition and give you international (usually more US biased) google.com results.
local searches work well. The issue is that search tools seems to be turning on by default limiting results to the UK.
This is almost enough to make me stop using google. I can set it to any country and when I open another tab it will randomly switch back to UK only. I can't find any settings to change this
Are you signed into a google account at the time? What browser are you using? What addons are you using? The first thing I would do is try a different browser
Google not windows (had a few drinks) Firfox, logged into google. I looked at my ad-ons, nothing seems related.
Does the same issue occur when you are not signed into your google account. Does the same issue occur when using internet explorer
I have the complete opposite problem. I find that UK forums are generally more interesting and mature than the US, but when I search Google the top results are usually from the US. I also find that when searching for products, I get US results come before UK. Annoys me like mad. This is using https://www.google.co.uk ........ the clue to Google should be the fact I'm searching .co.uk I've started using Bing. I now find my results are more geared towards UK than US results, AND less crap.
That's because you need to clock on "Use Google.com" in the bottom right corner. https://www.google.com/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=rxx-VbLWC4mI7Ab864C4DQ&gws_rd=cr&fg=1 There's the link.
I have been on tonight without being signed in and had the issue again. Have not tried using chrome yet.
I don't mind UK being prioritised. I don't want sites outside the UK to be excluded.sometimes I location awareness. A weeks ago it was working perfectly.
