Having just won a $250 gift card to Frys Electronics, I am wondering what I should upgrade.
    Current Specs:
    EVGA P55 Cheesecake
    i5 750
    8GB Corsair XMS3 1333mhz
    WD Caviar Black 1Tb
    EVGA GTS 250 512mb
    Acer 23" 1080p
    2.1 Speakers(RCA Stereo that I love)
    5.1 Headset(eh, better at 2.1 than 5.1, sounds amazing)
    Logitech G3 and G11
    Rocketfish case
Thermaltake 1200w Toughpower (Overkill, but it was free)

Right now I am considering a few upgrades.
Another GTS 250, but I want to wait to see what nVidia releases hopefully soon.
    Another 1Tb drive.
A Creative soundcard(the $99 one) Anything with optical in and out will do though)

It is hard to make a recommendation without knowing what you use the computer for, however, it would appear that you could justify spending a bit on graphics. I would hold off until Fermi was out and then take a look at a graphics card update.

    I wouldn't recomment going with a second GTS250.

What I'd do first is check that that gift card doesn't lose value or expire after a certain point, then if it doesn't lose value or expire before Fermi I'd wait, but if it does then a terabyte drive and a sound card might be useful.

    Knew I was forgetting something.
I use my computer for a variety of different needs. Basic web browsing, to gaming, as well as 3d modeling and map editing, folding, music, movie watching, and digital artwork.

I would like an SSD, but I'm not sure if I would notice the difference.
I guess I will wait to see what Fermi is like unless it loses value.

    Rep given.

Its impossible not to notice the difference with an ssd.
A few examples of what i noticed:
    > Greatly improves startup times ~30sec for me (specs in sig)
    > opening firefox from cold is almost the same as un-minimising it time wise, chrome is even faster
    >I dont even get time to read the m$ word splash screen before word is running
    > Photoshop starts in about 4 secs
    > my fans are practically silent, and when my storage hard drive spins down i can't hear my computer

as you might have guessed, i'm converted to SSDs :) really worth it.

From the spec you've posted i think the obvious upgrade would be the graphics card. If you can live with the load times you're getting i would avoid the SSD.

At least thats how ive sold SSD drives to myself, Yes it would speed things up, but im not annoyed with my comps loading times, and i can live with the speed my system is.

As nice as the SSD benefits sound, I think I would probably benefit from a new graphics card more.

    Thanks for the help!

I've looked into watercooling and I've just recently ordered some stuff from the for sale section.
I would get a Xonar, but its more expensive and doesn't have the optical like I want.

Actually, I have been considering SSD's, and was wondering what it would be like if I got 4 of these for Raid 0+1
However those drivers are EOL, and I don't know if they have trim support.

the fry's gift card shouldn't lose any of its value. at least it doesn't where i am at.

i would personally go for a solid state drive with the two fifty.
though the selection at fry's isn't that great.
only one i would get is the patriot torqx. because of the cache.

so, i would definitely go for the upgraded graphics card next.
either wait for fermi or get a second gts 250.
though. again. i would wait for fermi for the price drop on the gts 250.
or toss the cash to pay the difference for a fermi card.

    just my thoughts.

I Think I might go grab a Torqx and see how much I like it. If I don't I can take it back.
