As a follow up to this thread, I found a new job. It will be for a bank in Alabama for 3 to 4 months writing / troubleshooting software.

It will be strange to go so far from home, but it will be a good things.

    Wish me luck.....

The bad part is going to be leaving my fiance and baby daughter in Oregon while I'm gone. I'll be able to come home and visit every few weeks, but it will still kind of suck.

Anyway, the money will be good and it will be good to be working again.

Yeah, all the best with the job, pity it's so far from home, but like you say, gets you back into work and earning again.

Thanks everyone. I fly out on the morning of Saturday the 6th and will be coming home for a weekend visit 3 weeks later. My macbook pro has a built in webcam and I will be buying one for the desktop at home. I'll post how things are going after I get there.

... My plane leaves in 3 1/2 hours...
Takes off out of Portland Oregon at 8:45 am pacific time, lands in Montgomery Alabama at 8:48 pm central time. 10 hours of travel time + 2 time zones; 3 planes total; 1.5 hour layover + 2.5 hour layover.

Edit: Here's how I'll be spending the next 12 or so hours:

Don't know if you've got your iSight working with MSN yet, but just a tip: the only realistic way of doing it that I've found is to use a program called aMSN -failing that, I believe Yahoo! Instant Messenger has webcam support in OSX.

Congrats on the new job, and GL!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as to how time flies when you're away from home.

I'm sure you've asked this but if it's just messing with software can't they just email it to you or mail a DVD with it or something so you can work on it at home?
