Basically we (its in my dads name) got this lovely POS through the door this morning: http://www.p2pforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31839 anyone else get this? wouldnt mind, but of all games its two worlds! I wouldnt waste the bandwidth on it! to Reality Pump and their evil german/switzlerland nazi lawyers-trying-to-scare-people-with-non-existant laws i say this: FIDDLESTICKS! 128bit encryption on downloads in 3....2...1...
from davenport lyons? we got hit with that last month. its a legit law firm specialising in this kinda crap -read: copyright infringement- and just paid the 600 rats off rather than face legal proceedings. stupid to do that? was it really a scam?
Regardless of the legality of file sharing, I was under the impression that due to the Data Protection Act your ISP couldn't give out your details unless ordered to do so by a court.
how it plays out remains to be seen, and im not getting into a debate regarding the ethics of something rather the legality of it. but german law isn't uk law. things may change in the future, but currently it isnt at least.
I'm glad my ISP (Qwest) doesn't give a damn, and almost supports P2P when they won't hand over records to the RIAA, MPAA, or NSA
i got an email about that kind of stuff so i just turned on all the encryption stuff and haven't gotten another, but haven't used a torrent for a long time either.
I have never seen one of those before, but I'm norwegian and filesharing laws over here are ... uhm ... somewhat ambiguous at best. We have a federal organization of sorts that have been formed to deal with data-registration and personal safety issues, and what's even better: they are very, very strict. No-one are allowed to store any kind of personal information past a certain point, and no-one most certainly are not allowed to hand over said information to anyone. The EU recently tried to force our government to accept a personal information storage and delivery act, which unsurprisingly did not go too well with said organization nor the public. The EU simply cannot really force us to do anything because we're not part of the EU. In addition our laws clearly state that downloading for your own amusement is all fine and dandy, but sharing (uploading) is frowned upon. All in all, I'm quite happy to live here in spite of the fact that the cost of living here is somewhat higher than many other places I can name.
cheers for that fella! but its not me its my dad. and i dunno about the game, didn't d/l it, and never played it! heard its utter tripe though
So it seems they're actually just sending them out fairly randomly? Or have the wrong IP addresses? Interesting....
