If my room temps are pretty warm during the summer season, would it really make sense to try watercooling to lower cpu temps and perhaps overclock a bit?
yes. as long as ur room temps dont exceed the curent temp of ur chip(which they shouldent unless u live in hell or mexico) unrealted why isnt the a frosty smilie anymore
Yeah thats what I thought, watercooling might even help lower the room temp. If you click more you'll see
ugh? Interesting My computer runs between 7°C and 12°C hotter then the ambent temperature for my room, in summer the temperature of my room will hit around 27°C so that makes a CPU temp of around 34°C to 39°C depends on how much hotter your room gets tbh. As for making your room cooler, not gonna happen, the heat you CPU makes needs the be disperesed into the suroundings, a W/C setup does this more efficiently, therefore it will make the room hotter if anything, but it should stay the same. It won't make the room hotter. It simply won't make a difference. The same amount of thermal energy will be dissipated into the air. 8-ball
8-BALL is only saying it wont make his room cooler, as for clocking it depends what his chip will give him stable on air and water. 'doc
What I'm saying is that the cooling system (provided it is not an active heat pump ie pelt or HVAC) has no effect on the ambient temp, only the difference between the ambient temp and the cooled component. The heat load from the processor is the same regardless of cooling method, unless you overclock it. 8-ball
not a task for a watercooling noob and their are pleanty of threads out their detailing what needs to be done. 'doc
You could buy a ready made water cooled PSU - they're expensive and usually need to import them from Germany - although wizard designs in Wales does that sort of thing (Pug). Have a look in the products section.
