Because of a mistake at a famous etailer, I managed to order the following, and took delivery Thurs pm

    Core i7 2600k
    MSI P67A GD55
    Geil 1600mhz DDR3
    CM Hyper 212 +

Have literally pushed the OC Genie button on the mobo and it's clocked it to 4.2ghz at 1.21volts

    Pics and benchmarks

Only planning to go up to 4.8ghz, won't be pumping 1.6v or anything like that through it ;)

    Cinebench 11.5

Good score on Cinebench, my E8400 only made it to about 2.30 when running at 4.2GHz
I think I better start saving my student loan and finding myself a job to get a nice upgrade (though I better still concentrate on my degree first...)

Great thread already...I am looking at same Mobo/processor (2500K though) and case.

How does it all fit in the scout? Airflow? Cable mgmt? Roomy case?:thumb:

What's the motherboard like? I'm toying with the idea of buying it (or possibly the Asus P8P67 Pro, or the Gigabyte P67A-UD4.. Not made my mind up yet!) with my 2500K.

No mistake by the etailer but instead by a certain manufacturer who emailed a load of etailers telling them to go live now! Even though this message should have gone to reviewers. OOpps

8 mins 27 seconds for Super Pi 32M @4.2GHz! That's some nice architecture improvement right there! If I put my 920 up to 4.2GHz it does it in 8 mins 57 seconds - mind you, it's unstable at that speed.

Just went into the bios and did the live update via the net, said it was doing this and that and rebooted, then when setting vcore it stuck!

Ram is at 1600mhz atm, aiming for 4.8ghz so will touch it when i've achieved that lol. In the bios it's pretty simple and lets you choose 800/1066/1333/1600/1800/2000 etc etc as it's not linked with FSB or anything olde worlde like that

CM Hyper 212+ is good, idle temps at 4.5ghz are 31ºc with 50% fan and max I saw is 68ºc when running prime95 small fft for 20 mins, fan had ramped up to 67.5%

    New benches

    Cinebench 11.5 @ 4.5ghz

I know it'll do it, but I don't wanna nuke it, it's not even properly released, plus, anything over 1.4 is into crazy territory

    I reckon it'll do it on 1.45volts.

    Happy at 4.5ghz 1.28vcore :thumb:

    Fantastic stuff!

Can buy from a few shops now but I wanted to wait for bit-tech reviews on motherboards. For for some reason I have convinced myself that the Asus P8P67 Pro will be great for my 2500K and I don't need to wait so I think this weekend will be a struggle not to buy

    1 step further, 4.8ghz at 1.39vcore

    SuperPi 32m 7min 19.828s

    SuperPi 1m 7.784s which is quicker than a i7 950 @ 5164mhz on dry ice cooling!!!

    Cinebench 11.5

    9.40pts

Have settled for 4.5ghz @ 1.28v with turboboost and speedstep enabled as my 24/7 setting.

Very low temps with speedstep lowering the speed to 1600mhz, running 37.5% on fan
