Hi all I've been away from these lovely forums (and out of the PC loop) for about 3 years. I had planned to build back then but various things got in the way and it never happened. Now I'm in the position to actually get a system built and I'm pretty set on most of the parts but the only thing I'm clueless about is the GPU choice. I have a max of £150 to spend but I have no idea what to go for. I'll not be gaming at any higher than 1080 for the foreseeable future but I still want decent performance and at least some sense of future proofing. I'm hoping for a better experience than my Xbox one. I'll also be rendering short videos (HD not 4k) So I throw myself on the mercy of the knowledgeable people here. What's the best bang for the buck GPU that £150 will get me? Thanks in advance!

As above the GTX 960 is all you can do for that budget. Here's a 4GB version... http://www.ebuyer.com/721812-evga-g...g-4gb-gddr5-dual-link-dvi-hdmi-04g-p4-1962-kr Currently bundled with 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' which you could probably sell on for £15. Can also register with EVGA for another game called 'Bombshell'! Also the 3 year transferable warranty is a bonus.

Thanks for the replies. Is a 2GB card enough these days? Should I try to up my budget to £175 to try to get a better 4GB one?
Same opinion here. Go for the 380, you cant go wrong. Specially now that AMD got his stuff together and their drivers are performing better than nvidia.
I'd definitely up it to go for a 4GB card without a doubt. 2GB is a little too low by today's standards.
Or get a GPU second hand off somewhere like here . I found 2GB of video memory starting to limit some of my games at 1080 and upgraded to 4GB (an Asus r290x DCU II I bought on here for less than £200). Sent from my SM-N915FY using Tapatalk
I personally avoid eBay, but that might just be me because as a buyer you're far better protected than as a seller. To make everyone's life easier I just get my S/H stuff off here because I know people here are far less likely to rip you off or sell something duff and would be willing to help you out if something goes wrong . Of the 3 GPU's I've bought off here all have worked perfectly and I've sold 3 GPU's with no issues at all as well. Sent from my SM-N915FY using Tapatalk
I can't seem to see any classifieds, is there a minimum post count or something similar to gain access?
Ah yes. You need to have been a member for at least 3 months and have 150/175 posts (can't quite remember which). Sorry I didn't realise you were 'that' new . Sent from my SM-N915FY using Tapatalk
Is there something new on the horizon that means people will be upgrading? If so ,I'm ok with waiting a little to grab the leftovers!
Yes there are new cards coming from both AMD and nVidia, that are rumoured to be within the next 6 weeks potentially iirc. Personally I think the new cards will be released this month but will have to wait and see, but when they do come out there will be people upgrading to them so they are going to get rid of there old cards.
