There's always free shipping @ newegg.

And what's your budget on the GPU now that you've decided on the CPU/Mobo.

yes but half this stuff unless they dont stock it anymore is available at a LARGE store in the nearest shopping center. I will check out newegg though more often now.

I decided to go with this RAM and i am upgrading my PSU because i bought everything less than 10 days ago. So i can return! In-store! No RMA's!

    PNY 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory - 1x2048MB

and i am looking at this PSU

DiabloTek PHD550 550-Watt Power Supply - ATX, SATA Ready, PCIe Ready, 20+4 Pin

as you guys know, i hope, is have to try and keep prices low while getting the best quality i can squeeze out of my bank.:sigh:

and i checked out the link lxry left me in i think his first post on this thread. thank you. that gave me an idea on the performance of those cards in comparison to eachother.

EDIT: so i have decided to go with the ATI Radeon HD 4850512mb gddr3 or the XFX GeForce GTS 250 512mb gddr3. Now i just have to choose, any help here?

    Get an OCZ Modstream.

And get either 2x1GB sticks or 2x2GB sticks. Why? Because Dual Channel is much better.

Finally, both cards are almost neck and neck, so go with the cheapest one, well the cheapest one that you find good.

    I remember @ newegg there was a HD4850 for $94.

True but I heard a few people saying Nvidia GPUs handle crysis better. As you can see here.

I will check out that card @ newegg though.

    Any comment on my PSU?

Are those extra frames worth an extra $20?

If so then by all means go ahead. OCZ modstream = PSU.

ok Elton. I think all my questions are answered.

    except one.

This isnt really relevant to any of my problems but what is the difference between XFX, EVGA, PNY, BFG and Sparkle and all those other names. I understand Nvidia and ATI chips but what is with the "first names" Are the names like when you buy a soda? you can get Coca Cola or RC Cola, they are generally the same thing but with a diff name?

I think ima pick this PSU up tomorrow when I go to Compusa - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4540562&CatId=2533

those are brands. The most trusted Brands are:

Nvidia: EVGA, BFG, XFX, Palit, Gainward, Asus, MSI.
ATI : Visiontek, HIS, Sapphire, Palit, XFX, Gainward, Asus, MSI.

That said, sometimes going for the smaller companies(like Sparkle or Powercolor, or even iChill) is a good idea if you dig the custom Cooling.

ok that all makes sense. I saw this card which looked pretty cool.

So dont look at brands so much, look at specs?

Thank you for your help Elton, your responses were more than i could ask for.:thumb:

A bit expensive for a 9600Gt, in fact for that price you could get a HD4870 from newegg.

Maybe tiger too, but newegg has a wider selection.

Get a Corsair PSU. Seasonic and Be Quiet are also very good. These are the most reliable ones.
