I'm a sucker for sexy looking aftermarket coolers ...try this one for size! http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.p...w&id=420&Itemid=99999999&limit=1&limitstart=3
http://www.tcmagazine.info/comments.php?shownews=31357&catid=2 how's that for a large graphics cooler?
There is a rather cool tri-sreen set up on the previous page which is worth a look but... ...reading the review, not only does this card better a stock 5850, not only does it better an OVERCLOCKED gtx 285 it also matches a 5870 for performance! While the stock cooler on the 5 series is all very nice and Batman you gotta wonder what else is coming from Ati's partners if Powercool can do this? It does kind of leave you wondering just what is the point of waiting for fermi?!
Jipa ...I'd want see that married to a fan arangement before passing judgement but yeah that is somewhat cool!
I'm sorry but nowhere in that review does the card match the 5870, not in games or synthetic benchmarks. Please post *evidence* before you start making up statements.
The manual shows fan setups ranging from dual 140's to quad 120 mm fans. So yes, it gets even more impressive.
Ph4Zed ...your right; the review doesn't state that it matches but does state that it's performance is close enough to mean that it represents far better value for money... and recommends this 5850 over the 5870 as a purchase choice. (last paragraph of the review).
And with the fans installed it looks like it takes up 3 possibly 4 slots?! It would go well on my 275 but i dont think i could sacrifice 5 slots in total just for a single card
That's actuall six slots But you can also slap the fans on the side, so they won't require as many PCI-slots. I have one of those puppies around and damn does the heatsink alone weight a ton.. Even the fan-mounting bracket is made from crazy thick aluminum..
