Hey everyone, been a while since I posted anything so I hope you've all been well.

Today's subject is the frankly meh performance I get from my 5670 when playing most games, and the recent influx of wages. This has led me to wanting to upgrade to something halfway decent in the <£200 bracket, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Probably looking at 660Ti or 760 if you are going with the green team.

I recently got the 7870 Tahiti LE from Aria. Thought it was a good deal Linky

Hmm that is a tempting price..

I've made the mistake of not buying the best I can afford before though so atm I'm thinking either 660Ti or 7870, promise my reasons for choosing these weren't purely aesthetic ;)

But yeah forreal which one would you go for? I've been meaning to learn what all the words and numbers on GPUs mean but alas I am still woefully uninformed.

The 7870 Tahiti LE is the cut down version of the 7950 and performance is closer to the 7950 than the 7870. Review here

If i had the £200 to spend instead of my smaller budget I would personally go for the 760 mainly due to it being the newest generation, any one linked by docodine would be a good choice.

    This has been my experience:

I used to buy in the £200 bracket and ended up getting a new one in less then a year for quite a few years. then I was saving up for my current GPU and though wait a moment what if I just go top end and keep it for 2 years? Also got a great today only offer and ended up with my GTX580.
What a difference. Can play most anything on top settings in 1080. Sadly I then bought a 27" and there are a few games that just require SLI to run on ultra at this high resolution. (1440p)

I will never again if possible go back to the mid range. I personally rather suffer a little at the end of the life-cycle then be stuck in constant upgrade as a new game comes out and forces me to use low settings. Consoles have pretty much stagnated the market over this period and all may change now with the new Consoles but they will be around for at least 4 years so thats another thing to keep in mind.

I personally would wait a little longer and see what amd will offer. It's only a couple more months

I thought AMD weren't releasing anything else this year GPU-wise, or have I missed something?
