Quite a long time... not sure on the total hour count, as I would pick it up and play then leave it again for days or weeks. Maybe 2 days solid??

The story missions of GTA IV are definitely doable in 2 long days if you become a nolifer for 48 hours. If you're already a nolifer, you're set! Just sit down and start playing

Okay I'm really getting into GTA5 now. I've been playing the third character for an hour, and I thought I really wouldn't like him, but actually he's freakin hilarious. It's great gaming, really is.

How are the controls? Are they any better than in GTA4? I couldn't stand the indirect and sluggish behaviour of the controls. Did they maybe add an option for FPS/TPS?

I'm about 12 hours in now and really enjoying it. There are concerns (I hate flying planes!) and the graphics are admittedly better than GTA IV on console they aren't as good as GTA IV on PC (though that was never a realistic expectation), the controls still seem to me to be a bit woolly (though that may be due in part to PS3's sticks) also whilst the shooting is better than IV its still not great.

Like always with this series though the writing and characters seem great and the attention to detail (and some of the subtler blended in jokes) are very well done.

I'm getting more in to it now - I'm able to somewhat overlook the console graphics (most of the time) and enjoy the actual experience. The controls are generally fine, but I also hate flying planes.

The writing on the other hand is superlative. I literally can't explain how much I am enjoying the hillbilly lifestyle.

Flying Helicopters and Planes is a nasty experience. For those who haven't tried it, think GTA 4 driving, whilst Drunk, but in the air. You are constantly adjusting something to keep steady flight.

I'm finding the auto-lock to be infuriating. On 4 on the PC with an xbox controller, you'd just pull Left trigger, and then flick between targets with right stick, if you weren't locked onto anything, it would lock onto something with stick flick. Not so on 5 on PS3, at least not for me.

So I'm having to constantly pull and release left trigger if I lose targeting, and I can't aim for **** with analogue sticks, :D

Planes aren't too bad, little twitchy, I expect with an increase in flying skill they might get more stable. Helicopters, my god they seem difficult, I don't think I've managed to keep one in a straight line for more than 2 seconds, always drifting left or right.

Doesn't help that I'm not very good with using two fingers on the back of the controller on trigger and shoulder buttons. I might find it easier with an 360 controller as they fit in my large hands better than the PS controller does.

Car handling feels really good, much better than 4, although I still find myself using a 4 driving style sometimes, which slows me down. Cars look great, and sound pretty good. Volume is a bit iffy though, to hear the engine noises you need the volume up, but then voices are a bit loud. Not enjoying the radio as much as in previous GTAs, mainly I think due to me not really knowing/liking any of the tracks.

Graphics haven't bothered me too much, if at all really. To me it looks brilliant but then I don't look too closely and I'm playing on a 1080p 22" TV at about 6ft away, so the image is pretty sharp to start with.

Story's good, not amazing (HL2 is still top for me, followed by TR), but GTA good. Some hilarious moments and comments from characters. Nice to see/hear mention of people from previous GTAs.

Still getting used to the UI and associated stuff, like weapon switching, but I'm getting there.

It's certainly going to be worth the £40, already put in maybe 10 hours, and I'm only 20% complete I think, and probably only explored 30% of the map. I'll probably get it on PC too if it arrives (maybe wait for a steam sale).

Tennis is awesome, as is Michael. Loving this game the more I play it. Still wishing I could play it on the PC, although I am slowly getting used to shooting with a controller... :)

Is it causing everyone elses drive on the PS3 to be constantly searching/spinning up?
Thought with the long install at the start it'd be running from the HDD.

true dat, but at least it's a FTP system. My major issue is that the storyline is confusing and sometimes monotonous.

Also some claim you can talk to the Developer, and He might change some stuff for you, but this has never happened to me.

Yeah mine does the same, I think the install might be to increase specific load times like EA did with BF3 on 360 to get the HD textures.

Can anyone link me to the main title song? It's stuck in my head and I need to find an MP3 of it to go on the phone ;)

FTP? Don't know which version you have but mine seems to need constant access to my credit card, has micro transactions and a fecking subscription!

Loving the game so far, but feel that it's epically laggy when driving fast (360), Installing the main play disc to a USB has helped (and stopped the disc spinning up) but it's still not enough! Am I just spoilt by being a PC gamer, or do others feel the same?

Apparently installing the disc causes massive FPS loss, but thats facebook grapevine, I haven't looked into it.

I'm so impressed, currently at 14.1% and its just driving me into the storyline.

I really like the characters so far, I feel that they're the good guys already.

What is worrying though is this is the first time that I've played a GTA game and had a real life licence and I've found myself parking in bays and stopping at the occasional traffic light. Also I've been taxiing it all over the place instead of jacking cars.

Maybe I'm too boring to play this these days.

Probably better to be taking habits from real life into the game than vice versa :)
