So has anyone else had any luck getting thiers working with any software yet? Mines all wired up, minuse the led power, and I cannot get it working with any software , the contrast pot works tho so I suppose at least its a start. Any ideas would be helpful
Can I just ask what packaging you sent these out in and what colour the packaging is, since only my parents are at home so I need to tell them what to look out for! Thanks.

ARrggggggg so god damn close but it wont work. Someone please help me before i rip out all of my hair.
Acrim did you wire yours up following the diagram posted in this thread? Also what did you use to get the display showing something mine is wired up properly as in the diagram now, i've checked it 4 times for wrong pins, short circuits etc, and even had a couple of mates double check it as well and it is exactly the same however, I get nothing but a blank screen. any help would be appreciated, printer port settings, software settings anything thanks
Hello there, I've wired over 20 CFAG12864-TMI-V's in the past so maybe I could try to give some hints. First CFAG12864-TMI-V and other KS0108 displays don't seem to much like noise or wrong timing. I've had best results when LPT port has been set in ECP/EPP mode. I never had any problems with the displays I wired but even with same hardware and software settings using the same wiring schematic but the wiring done by someone else I have heard reports of timing problems. Also if running software done by me the older versions have slightly different timings than new so they might be worth testing. When I wired these displays I always first wired the power and contrast pins and left LPT port connector not connected. Then I powered up the display and made sure the contrast was working ok and set approximate contrast using the potentiometer. Then I connected the display to LPT port and ran some program. I often used this one: http://www.skippari.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=121 You can find the KS0108 version in the thread. When powering the display and doing connections to parallel port I recommend checking that the chips on the back of the display are not getting hot. I had this happen few times (connecting things on the fly and parallel port pins in undefined state) but it was fixed by removing power and just powering up again. Just remember to check you have wired everything correctly and check that contrast is working before trying anything else.
i think i killed the pot. as pin 17/18 shorted out and now the contrast seems stuck on full contrast. (like if you dont connect to contrast lines in. ) if i dont connect in the power for the backlight and disconnect the pot. can i still get it working or wont i be able to see the letters on screen.
Not even attemping to do mine yet.... Waiting to see if someone gets their working first.. I'm not that good at electronics, so i know i will blow mine if i try yet...
Well I got the LCD and kit today, thanks guys, but I'm still waiting for my soldering iron tips. Teach me to order from random internet companies...
Thanks for the help Henri Right I think I have narrowed mty problems down to the DLportIO.sys driver not loading, I installed port95nt.exe restarted etc, but running any of the programs says that the DLportIO.sys driver isn't loaded. OS winXP, any ideas or have I got the wrong package for my OS, and if so can anyone point me in the right direction thanks again
Yo Visualaid did Acrim order one?? If someone can do it , he can... No offence to any of you other guys that can...
