Well just before this thread dies, I am trying to give it it's last breath
I tell you I am surprised at how much these little screens can actually display, and how much better they are than my previous alpha numeric one, good job visual

Oh one more thing, Acrim I still haven't got my kit, and as you can (hopefully) see I do not need it anymore, so if you don't mind just paypal the money back over my way and we'll call it a day, thanks
Mines working, Tho its shifting the whole lcd up about 18 pixels in lcd studio and sometimes half of the display turns off, Any ideas?
Has anyone managed to get liquidmp3 working with their display?
All the other software I can find works fine.
Hi guys, wondering if you could offer me some help with my crystalfontz lcd (from this group order). I have wired the whole thing up, double checked the wiring and that none fo the contacts are touching. Also I have the GND pins on the parrallel port linked up, and then soldered to a spare wire in the 15core cable going back to the LCD. This is then soldered to the 100K Pot that was supplied to change the contrast on the GND pin, which was then soldered to the GND pin on the molex.
Same symptoms as acrim, plugged in while pc was off. Turned on pc and initially the backlight comes on in all its glory. Then looks like some interference, and the backlight gets dimmer and flicks between different brightnesses. Then goes really dim, and i touch the chips on the back of the lcd and they are vvery hot, so I imediatly disconnect. I wont dare plug it in again until I have had a decent attempt at troubleshooting it, but I cant think of what I might have done wrong. I can get closeup pics if it will help....
thanks in advance
you sure you havent accidently plugged it into the 12v?
well the 5v line is in the red molex wire pin, so i preseume thats correct. The GND is connected to the middle black line.
