Hey First off my thanks to you for reading and helping out with my issue. I need a graphics card to upgrade my brothers pc, his budget is £50 however: He wants to play Skyrim and GW2 His machine specs: Resolution: 1024*768 CPU: Some old dual core am2 athlon PSU: Generic (I know I know) Also the graphics card cannot require an additional power input as I have 0 faith the the PSU. Kind Regards, Jason Field
If you can find a GTX260 or a GTX285 at that price (which I think you can) it's worth a shot. If not I think there are GTX460s for that price if you're lucky.
for that sort of money you will be looking at a GT 440 or an AMD 6670 for not needing extra power (or maybe an AMD 7750) for a bit more http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/02/15/amd-radeon-hd-7750-1gb-review/1 they are about £80.... btw what AMD cpu and board does he have?
You can't suggest graphics cards without knowing the wattage of his power supply and how many amps are on the 12v rail(s)... If OP could supply that information it would be most helpful.
They both need extra power, the 460's need 2x 6 pin anyways and on a generic psu (say 400w max if you lucky) that aint gonna happen (even if you are converting molex plugs!!!) Maybe a 450 or 640 if the budget would stretch. They are the same i think (oh nVidia always rebranding....) Rip
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-...re-1024mb-ddr3-1334mhz-memory-dl-dvi-vga-hdmi I believe a 6670 should run the card fine. My old system had a 4650, and that could run the GW2 beta around 10-20 fps, so I'd think the 6670 should run it just fine.
Have you tried a 6670? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-...re-1024mb-ddr3-1334mhz-memory-dl-dvi-vga-hdmi It's well in your budget, and my old system had a 4650 that ran the GW2 beta at 10-20 fps, so I'd imagine a 6670 would run it just fine.
