I have a 7600gt and i find the fan terribly noisy, its the loudest fan in my whole computer. If i find a better way to cool it without completely replacing the heatsink. Is it possible to simply disconnect the fan from the graphics card to make it stop functioning, or will that cause problems? Or is there a better way to make it stop working with software?

    Thanks.

If u disconnect the fan the card will overheat very fast and shut down the computer.
An option is to place a larger fan just above the fan on the card, and then disconnect it. Will need some modding.
Otherway. I found the latest ATI Tool to be able to lower the fanspeed in windows. It works on my card.

Yea, im going to make sure it doesent overheat by putting a different fan underneath and monitoring the temperatures. Im just curious if the graphics card doesent mind not having a fan pluged in.

It shouldn't be a prob disconnecting the fan.
Ex. If u put a passive cooler on the card you don't use a fan.
The card, software, just don't find any fanspeed.
